“A great place by the sea”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 18, 2013

Stayed the night at the establishment for a late break. Hotel well positioned by the sea with a great view from the balcony. A lovely room with a en suite which was of good size and free view tv. Bedrooms of good size. Breakfast was of a good standard. Owners warm and welcoming and would be very happy to stay there again on my holidays.

We missed our ferry and ended up staying here last minute. The owners were very obliging as we had to leave very early in the morning to catch our ferry. They gave us help and advice in parking our car so it was near to digs as my husband is disabled. They let us leave and drop the key in so we did not (I hope) wake them. We were in a family room I don't know if they had others available it was last minute and we just wanted somewhere to sleep. But obviously I don't normally sleep in the same room as my father. There was one place on the double bed that was really uncomfortable I don't know why. Room was spacious.Everything a little tired but clean. The lady knocked some money off cos we weren't staying for breakfast but even so on our experience of staying in rooms for what we got it was on the dear side. For example on the way home we stopped in a b and b in Weymouth we had separate rooms and a breakfast for only £7 more than we paid here. Although Edenhurst has a better position ie on the sea front. There was plenty of tea and coffee in the room as I say I can't comment on breakfast as we left before it was served.

Thank you for the positive parts of your review. The room you had was the only one available that would sleep 3 people at short notice, the price was reduced by £4.00 each for not having breakfast, our prices are probably a little bit dearer than other guest houses that are not on the sea front especially for 1 night at the weekend in August.

As it was bank holiday, it was difficult to get accommodation with booking 2 weeks in advance so paid a lot of money for a family room, which obviously has an effect on the overall rating. The rating is also based on a comparison of value for money experienced elsewhere, rather than a comparison as to what you might get for the same money in other guest houses in Weymouth. I'd actually rate it good, but given the choice between average and very good, I felt it was nearer the lower. The information below is probably more useful than the overall rating.

Positives: LED TV with Freeview channels. Tea & Coffee making facilities were available with 2 biscuits on arrival. Tea & Coffee were replenished. Decor was in fairly good condition so had probably been updated in the last couple of years. There was a reception room with TV. Breakfast was substantial consisting of cereal, juice, toast, tea/coffee, full English breakfast. I believe there was a choice of breakfasts that you could have apart from full English but didn't actually inquire. Breakfast was prepared quickly. Full English arriving after about 10 minutes wait. There was enough space in the breakfast room for guests. Can leave luggage on check out in reception room. The location is also good. It's about 5 minutes from the railway station and 2 minutes from the beach. It's also half way between the town/harbour area and the Lodemoor Country park where the Sea Life centre (amongst many other attractions is). Lots of maps and leaflets available at the guest house, so you can choose what you want. There's plenty to do in Weymouth for families. Bill and Cindy were approachable and informative.

Negatives: Unpleasant odour which was possibly due to the room not being used for a while. Shower room was functional but small, taking up a corner of the room. Breakfast times are 8:30 to 9am on weekdays and 9am to 9:30am at weekends. Times are apparantly adhered to, so we made sure that we did. Cleaning service isn't daily. Could hear TV on in neighbouring room.

Thank you for your positive comments.
In reference to the price, this was for a family room that sleeps 4 people with a sea view. It seemed expensive as there was only 3 people occupying the room. Our smaller family room for 3 had already been pre-booked.
We have a daily clean of all the rooms normally between 10.30 am and 12.00 pm when we have access. We refresh the tea trays but do not clean while customers are still occupying their rooms.
If any of our costumers have any problems or complaints they should notify us at the time so we can try to sort them so they can enjoy there stay at our establishment.

Thank you for your input

I stayed here for two month, in the summer of 2012. Our company had rented the entire place for me and some co-workers during that time. The place is nicely located accross the road from Weymouth beach. It is within easy walking distance of down town Weymouth and beautiful Weymouth harbour, where most of the shops, restaurants and pubs are. The rooms are fairly basic but comfortable and very clean. Each has it's own bathroom. The owners Bill & Cindy, were very friendly and attentive to our needs. I can't comment on the breakfast, as it was not included during my stay. I would recommend this place to a friend and would be happy to stay there again, on my next visit to Weymouth.

Room Tip: The ocean few would be worth a little extra money.

Stayed at the Edenhurst for two nights, the room was was comfortable, clean and tidy. Our room over looked the sea and the view was stunning. The breakfast was excellent and cooked to order. Cindy and Bill were excellent hosts, made us feel welcome on arrival and were very helpful during our stay. We stayed at the Edenhurst a few years ago, before Cindy and Bill took over, the transformation is exceptional, it is well worth the 3 stars they display. We will definitely stay there again.

I stayed at the Edenhurst for a few days. I didn't really know which guest house to choose because there are so many. But the Edenhurst caught my eye. I rang the bell and Bill and Cindy were very welcoming. The breakfast was AMAZING !!! Also the service was great. It didn't take long for my breakfast to come. There was a large variety as well. The room was clean and I didn't wake up once. The view was outstanding as the beach was over the road and the town was just a minute away. I liked that they gave you permits so we could park easily. Well done Bill and Cindy keep it up. ( I will be back soon )

This is the second time we have stayed here this time we came for three nights and enjoyed it just as much as our last visit at the same time last year, Bill and Cindy make you very welcome we had a family room and the room was lovely and spacious, clean and tidy and we had no complaints, Breakfast was lovely and a good variety of food. The B&B is in a great location, you can walk into town for a short walk and being on the sea front you have great views.
You get a parking permit and there is never any problems with parking spaces, we tend to park the car and leave it till we go home as it's nice to not have to drive and there is so much to do you really don't need to drive, the local bus service is good and we use that as our little boy loves to ride on the bus.
I would recommend this B&B I have stayed in lost over the years and this is one of the best so far.
