Last year saw a new landlord take-on the Wyke Smugglers.

Being our local pub I was sceptical of the coming changes if any as the pub didn't offer much.

Ross and his partner and staff are really friendly, within weeks of taking over they establish the place as a destination for pub food.

They relocated the pool table into the skittle alley making way for more tables and seating and introduced a sofa, our favourite spot!

We've eaten here twice now, each time the food has been well prepared with good portions. Whilst the menu is relativity small it allows them to concentrate on quality not quantity.

A new menu is coming out this week.

We love to sit and watch the world go by and I can honestly say watching all those people eat, they looked like they enjoyed their meals.

The pub now has a really nice atmosphere and is child and dog friendly through the evening.

And we were amazed at the reception at the Wyke Smugglers and the menu! We didn't have time to eat there as we were on our way to visit a young offender at HMP Portland and we will seriously consider eating here -it sounded so promising!

Friendly atmosphere and dog friendly as well. Even supply doggy treats & water free of charge. Would definitely recommend.

Two, sometimes three of us have started to go at lunchtime once or twice a week. The new Management and staff extend a very friendly and personal welcome, just like pubs used to do but difficult to find nowadays. Alex serves up some excellent food, we particularly enjoy the salt beef sandwich and the warm scotch egg with parma ham. Good service, good value, good place to relax.

Wyke Smugglers pub has been under new management for about two months and what a change for the better! Dave, Tori and Rhos who now manage this pub have reopened the kitchen and are producing excellent meals along with a large selection of real ales and a cheerful welcoming ambiance. Dogs are now welcome - they were banned by the previous landlord. The menu is interesting and I particularly enjoyed the ‘Drunken Pig’ on a recent visit. I won’t tell you what this is - just go along and try it! Your taste buds will love you for it. The Salt Beef Sandwich is an unusual but very popular dish for a pub and I’ve enjoyed it twice now. Live music is often available at weekends - greatly enjoyable but never conversation-stoppingly loud. There is a large function room/skittle alley which is in much demand. It is great to see this pub so successfully revived by three young enthusiasts in the heart of the Wyke Regis community.
