“Out door eating”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 10, 2013

Visited the Red Lion several times over the last 12 months, the last time (last weekend) the weather was nice so we eat and drank outside.

This proper British pub has a good selection of different draught beers and a wide selection of spirits, I counted about 10 different Irish Whiskey's for example which is pretty unusual in this part of the world. The menu is varied and middle of the road in terms of price but the food is excellent and certainly appears home made.

Four stars instead of five ? solely down to the fact that the place is a victim of its own success and gets extremely busy

“Never disappointed”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 9, 2013 via mobile

Eaten here several times over last few months.
Can recommend Brian's Irish stew to share, you could be sat in your Irish aunties kitchen eating the real deal!
Fish finger and steak baps are tasty and filling.
Nice selection of wines/ ciders, had a very good bottle of Prosecco the other night sat in the sunshine.
Nice decor, friendly staff. Owner almost always there. It's a well run pub and the quality is there in all that they do.

“Best Pies.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 7, 2013

Lovely busy pub and a very friendly Irish landlord. If you are ever in Weymouth you must visit this pub which is just behind the harbour and try the'Dorset Vinney Blue Pie'. It is the most delicious pie we have ever tasted and the 'Steak and Ale Pie' was yummy, packed full of lovely tender beef.

“good value”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 6, 2013

first time I had ever eaten at this pub, the menu was very good unless like myself you are a vegetarian had a bit of a job to choose something, ended up with a bowl of cheesy chips, not much can go wrong with a bowl of cheesy chips so can not comment on the quailty.
My partner and mother opted for the homemade burger and chips and although I did not eat this I could see what good quality the food was and extremily good value.
would have given this pub a five star rating but due to the lack of choice for a vegetarian have given a four star rating,
The staff where all very polite and the food and drinks where served quickly, will be going back again
