Description: We, at our National British Pie Award winning Handmade Pie & Ale House are setting out to create the most premium of pies and to serve the most traditional, tastiest constantly changing ales, of which we always have some local and some from various parts of the country. We now have up to six to choose from and you are always welcome to have a FREE try before you buy!! We are proud to have our beautifully renovated old restaurant / bar where you can sit, enjoy and take in the charming surroundings whilst being looked after by our lovely caring staff and you can eat drink and be merry. Our pies are lovingly made by us, by hand, in our open-plan pie kitchen (where you can also see them being made!) With our homemade pastry and homemade fillings, no two pies are ever the same. We are constantly making our pies fresh from a selection of over 38 different flavours - we even make our own low calorie 'smart pies' and of course several vegetarian options. Also, if for some reason you don't fancy one of our multi award winning pies, we even have a NON PIE menu, which, believe it or not is called the 'We Don't Just Do Pies' menu! This has an ever changing variety of good old home cooking favourites and specialty boards, such as a meat & cheese sharer, our own crispy chicken wings, our own homemade gooey Brie Wedges in Panko breadcrumbs and 1/2 a rotisserie chicken on a board! Plus good old proper relaxing Sunday lunches, with roast leg of lamb, aged Scottish beef, stuffed rolled crispy belly pork etc. Not hungry? Alternatively, if you prefer just come and enjoy a drink in our beautiful bar and just have a good old piece of free hospitality on the side.......

“VERY VERY GOOD PIES”
Reviewed December 26, 2013

Had lunch here on Christmas eve after reading reviews on T/A and we were not disappointed we were greeted by a friendly member of staff who showed us to our table, we hadn't booked but it was mid afternoon so although some tables were occupied we were able to get a nice table.
There was a mistake with one of the orders but this was corrected quickly,
this place is all about the pies and I would say it was the best pie I have ever tasted and will certainly be visiting when next in Weymouth,
All in all good service, good food in lovely surroundings.

“Party Friendly”
Reviewed December 20, 2013

Eight of us eat at the amazing Pie and Ale House the other night. The choice of pies is numerous. One can have mash or chips come in there own wire basket with a choice of various side dishes such as mushy peas or side salad etc. All well presented by friendly and helpful waiting staff in lovely surroundings. It was enjoyed by everyone on our table.
P.S. It was very reasonably priced as well.

“Go hungry”
Reviewed December 12, 2013

Good simple food, well cooked and very nicely presented. They make it seem so easy. The service was a little lacklustre but nothing awful. We had standard pie, potato and peas and felt very full by the time we'd finished. But it was good and we ate it all.

Worth a visit.

“Not much more expensive than Wetherspoons but far better value”
Reviewed December 12, 2013

This a wonderful little pub hidden away from the main town. It is quite literally opposite the railway station. The food is really good, and looks and tastes ... well, handmade! None of your Wetherspoons microwaved rubbish here. Nice, comfortable furnishings, quite contemporary, yet retaining an old pub feel. We paid £10 each for an excellent pie, with mash (or chips if preferred) and mushy peas, baked beans or a side salad. You also get a pint of ale included in the price if you go before 5pm.

I would really recommend this place if you like great, hearty meals (especially pies!). They do other dishes if you don't fancy a pie (e.g. lasagne, salad) and have a great looking vegetarian pie which I plan on trying next time I visit.

I am told you'll probably need to book a seat if you want to eat in the evening. Unlike some reviews, I found the staff to be very attentive and pleasing.
Well worth a visit.
