Just recently returned to eat for a second time at this hotel close to the promenade at Weymouth. We were very impressed by the quality of the fish course - sea bass - and the freshness of the vegetables cooked to perfection. The crayfish tails as a starter were again fresh and tasty.

The ambience was subdued elegance and the staff (led by John, manager/bar manager) were friendly and attentive.

We would easily recommend eating in the restaurant of the Hotel Rex and had two memorable evenings there, hopefully to return in the future

We stayed here for 3 nights just after half-term.

PROS:
Fantastic service from really lovely staff - absolutely nothing is too much trouble
Excellent food both nights we had dinner
Really good choice at breakfast (including delicious home cooked ham and/or cheese and tomatoes, smoked haddock etc)
Very nice towels; changed daily and a proper big 'bath sheet' each (one of my pet niggles)
Really nice quality individual toiletries in the bathroom and re-freshed daily
Fabulous location looking right over the Esplanade (although might be noisy in high Summer)
Very easy access from the Station
Lovely Geogian and Victorian features in the public rooms; high sash windows, cornices and coving etc.
Very warm and cosy

CONS:
Terrible pillows - we will definitely stay again but will bring our own!
Double bed only and not very comfortable
Every particle of character stripped out of the bedrooms and coridoors - looks like a Premier Inn
Very tired and in need of much TLC
Poor quality breakfast sausages!

OVERALL:
We had a really good stay thanks to the lovely staff and brilliant service, so despite the 'cons' listed above, we would return as we spent very little time in our room, and definitely recommend .

Room Tip: We asked, and apparently Rooms, 1, 2 and 4 are the best! We had room 5 - seaview double which had a...

Stayed over the half term for a few days after the 'floods' and rather than stay B&B decided that this Hotel seemed good value,,,,,We were not wrong. Our Sea view room with Balcony gave us a good view of the Bay and was very Clean if not a little 'Tired' in places..The bed was to die for, so comfy we both slept really well. Breakfast was also good, and was served with a smile by very good staff.......would we recommend this hotel.......YES.

Room Tip: Balcony rooms are very good.

Stayed here overnight whilst visiting unis- the room was clean and the shower/tv worked well, however wifi did not reach the room and only worked well in the middle of the hotel. Very good choice at breakfast however, and managed to find somewhere to park using the permit.

Checked in for a two night stay. The bed was so comfortable, had a great nights sleep Lovely room with a balcony overlooking the bay, however I would imagine in high season this would be quite noisy. Very friendly staff and good service.

Excellent position in Weymouth, across the road from the beach and minutes from the town. Staff were extremely friendly and polite, from Elliott the lovely waiter to the reception staff. Everywhere was clean and tidy was clean and tidy. Oh and the food was delicious! We will definately be returning this year.

Booked this as a valentines trip for me and my partner so glad i did after looking at 5 other hotels in weymouth this was most central to everything couldnt of asked for a beter location. Got there and was greated by what i would say as the nicest and helpfullest reception staff have come across in a while, they made sure we knew everything about the hotel and what was on offer in and around the hotel. Took our bags upstairs to a nice size room which was very clean. Had a evening out in weymouth town got some lovely food out and headed back ready for an early start. I must say my only critsim was aimed at other customers in the hotel as everytime a door would shut would slam and shake the room which is nothing to do with hotel to do with others just letting the door go instead of shutting nicely! Woke up for breakfast and the choice was really good had fruit and yoygart with orange and apple juice, over on another table was cereals. A very friendly waiter came and took our food order both going for full english which was impressive just enough and to a good standerd.
Overall a very good one night stay and would recomend for all ages also a very good price for what you get!
