Just got back from 3 night stay in the 'honeymoon' suite. It was fabulous from the moment we opened our hotel door and were greeted by a lovely bottle of chilled cava to the bath robes hanging up in the jucuzzi bathroom. The view was to die for and the 4-poster bed was amazingly comfortable!
The breakfast was great and also stayed half board as we have eaten at the hotel restaurant before and know its good, it didn't let us down. Staff are so friendly, professional and very approachable. We love staying here and hope to spend new year at the hotel if there is any vacancies.

Room Tip: Pay the extra and have a balcony room or treat yourself toe the 'honeymoon' suite, only a li...

As visitors to Weymouth we had looked online before we went to look for somewhere nice to eat, we looked at the menu for the above restaurant which is situated at the Rex Hotel and they there was so much choice for us both that we decided to give it a try, we booked in and were not disappointed, the staff were friendly, we had drinks in the bar before going downstairs to our table, the restaurant is an old wine cellar underneath the hotel and we sat in a vaulted alcove, it was very romantic!! our starters were of generous portions and with the bread roll we had beforehand we were already feeling a bit full, the main courses were superb but again of big portions, all in all we came away feeling contented and very full and prices wer veey reasonable too, you dont have to be a resident to eat at this hotel so give it a go, you definately wont be disappointed and if you like good wholesome cooking then this is the ploace to visit, well done staff, you did us proud.

Stayed here a couple of times at all times of the year, breakfast is yummy beautifully cooked and served, rooms well equipped clean and comfortable, staff friendly and inviting, from the manager to the cleaner. Have stayed in a few hotels in Weymouth over the years but the Rex is always our first choice and always will be. Location is excellent, we have sea view rooms and even the small fair isn't a problem (it's a very small one with an old fashioned carousel).rooms are not dated and tired they are ideal for the building it wouldn't be right being modern !!!one of the cleanest hotels I've stayed in. Would like to say WELL DONE HOTEL REX
I do not know why there are negative comments

Room Tip: Pay the small supplement and go for a sea view, well worth it

We spent two nights in a sea view room with a balcony but the balcony isn't suitable for sitting out on (there wasn't a table or any chairs anyway!). The room was clean but dated and small with a lumpy bed that gave my husband a bad back after the first night. However the bathroom was spacious and clean with a decent shower and free toiletries. We were given a warm welcome by all staff and the full english breakfast was excellent. We liked the free deck chairs we found in our wardrobe - they proved very useful on the beach, a nice touch thanks. A big bonus for this hotel is they have a private lock-up garage for a small fee. Im so glad we used this as parking around the whole of the beachfront and harbour was a nightmare.

My wife and I stayed at the Rex in May 2012 on our wedding night. It was the perfect end to a perfect day. We arrived at the hotel in the evening after attending our wedding reception, with a couple of guests in tow... The Manager of the hotel greeted us with a warm and professional welcome and made us comfortable in the hotel bar whilst we and our guests enjoyed a night cap or two!!
We couldn't have asked for a better room from this traditional seaside hotel - stunning views across Weymouth Bay, a beautiful Four Poster bed and a Jacuzzi bath! The next morning we enjoyed a really tasty cooked breakfast in our room whilst watching the sun rise across the bay. Just the job!
We actually only live a few miles from the hotel and as 'locals' we had high expectations for the Rex - I'm pleased to say these were surpassed. Thank you to Jon and all his staff for making our one night stay at the Rex an enjoyable one.

We spent our wedding night here over 22 years ago and the service wasn't good at all then so goodness knows why I thought it would be romantic to spend our anniversary here a couple of years ago.
We were married in November and when we arrived at the hotel we werent even offered a congratulations, nothing. Just a look at us as though we were really just having a naughty night together. Room was freezing and dated. Staff weren't particularly warm either.
Went back again hoping that things would be very different given how much time had gone by and sorry to say but room was freezing and the staff were equally as miserable.
We had the four poster room, and it was absolutely freezing in there. Not enough bedding to keep you warm and because of the high ceilings the room just didn't hold any heat whatsoever.
It's sad really, because it's in a fab location and obviously it's of sentimental value to us but to be quite honest, if they can't keep a room warm and cosy in the winter then they should either get a new boiler, bigger radiators or not rent their rooms out at all during the winter months.
I don't like to be too warm at night, I always sleep with my windows open in the summer but this room is like an icebox and to walk around shivering is unacceptable.
We won't be going back to this hotel.

We stayed at the Rex in July 2012. The Hotel is centrally located on the beachfront opposite a tiny childrens funfair. The hotel is clean but dated. The rooms are spacious but in need of rennovation. Our TV had a poor reception. The hotel bar is clean and tidy but in need of modernisation. The staff are friendly and helpful. View from the room was of rooftops and back streets as all the seaview rooms were taken. Reasonable hotel but maybe abit too pricey?

Room Tip: Try and get a seaview room.
