We have stayed at this hotel quite a few times, it is part of a group of hotels that mainly cater for older people on a 7 day coach trip with breakfast and dinner included in the price (eg turkey and tinsel). The staff are very friendly and the bedrooms are clean. Because of the nature of their core business there seems to be an all pervading old people smell but get past that and everything is fine. The breakfast is lovely but if you have a large appetite it may be an idea to have the cereals as well as the cooked breakfast. Will definitely use the hotel again but will book direct instead of using latebookings.com as it is cheaper.

Room Tip: Don't ask for room 12 it is very small and right next to the cleaning cupboards and stairs.

Spent 2 nights here with group of 40,Staff,food,warmth all Excellent,Clean and very comfortable. We had room on front overlooking Harbour,(45)Can be very noisy at weekends. Could do with Double Glazing.

Room Tip: Corner rooms are bright and sunny,Higher floors hear less noise from weekend party goers. Back rooms with no view are quieter.

Spent one night at the hotel with a group of about 40 people. The staff and organisation were, perhaps the best I have ever experienced. We used the ballroom for meetings on the Saturday and Sunday. I have to say that the hotel did an exceptional job. Tea, coffee and lunch all appeared on time and were fresh and hot (take not Hiltons and Marriotts et al.). Breakfast appeared within minutes of being ordered, none of that 'have they forgotten about me?' syndrome. The only reason I'm not awarding a full five stars is because the food is a bit basic. This isn't a luxury hotel but it has fantastic staff. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Try and get a room at the back, I think the rooms at the front might be noisy at night.

Coach trip - turkey tinsel break!

Well located on towns bridge just above Weymouth old harbour and within the shopping area with a good range of shops from high street to beach & craft. Pubs and restaurant across the road (and a huge Weatherspoons opposite).

Curtains looked awful from outside (!) hanging down and unhooked, but the rest of the hotel was clean and cosy, although some communal areas could do with an update.

Bar opened very late and the prices were fair with friendly, courteous staff.

Well equipped room, very nice decor, spotlessly clean and warm, mirror and lighting spot on.

Mealtimes were a pleasure, the food was well presented, hot and delicious and the service was excellent the waiters/waitresses worked as a team and were completely attentive at all times, (the best I have experienced in any hotel-well done!)

Two negatives: late night/early hours it was so noisy to the extent that you could hear the shouting/screaming from a nightclub (?) at empty out time-difficult to sleep. Also the entertainment was 'corny' and amateurish, but the bar was open throughout and there are plenty of pubs with live entertainment locally.

All in all great value for money

Room Tip: Our noisy room was at the back of the hotel

We stayed at The Crown over New Year 2012 on a four day break with a coach party. Having spent New Year holidays in various venues in the UK over the past 12 years this was by far the best. Our bedroom was clean, warm and comfortable with excellent lighting (what a bonus) and a good shower cubicle with oodles of hot water. I always bring a large bath towel in my case but it was not needed as the Crown's towels are huge.

Every member of staff was chatty and helpful, the food was superb and the menus varied and the service in the restaurant second to none. The entertainment was not quite 5 star but very acceptable.

If you are contemplating holidaying on the south coast please do consider The Crown, you will be welcomed with open arms and enjoy the best of British hospitality. We will be back.

Room Tip: Room 58 was quiet
