Spent one night at the hotel with a group of about 40 people. The staff and organisation were, perhaps the best I have ever experienced. We used the ballroom for meetings on the Saturday and Sunday. I have to say that the hotel did an exceptional job. Tea, coffee and lunch all appeared on time and were fresh and hot (take not Hiltons and Marriotts et al.). Breakfast appeared within minutes of being ordered, none of that 'have they forgotten about me?' syndrome. The only reason I'm not awarding a full five stars is because the food is a bit basic. This isn't a luxury hotel but it has fantastic staff. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Try and get a room at the back, I think the rooms at the front might be noisy at night.

Coach trip - turkey tinsel break!

Well located on towns bridge just above Weymouth old harbour and within the shopping area with a good range of shops from high street to beach & craft. Pubs and restaurant across the road (and a huge Weatherspoons opposite).

Curtains looked awful from outside (!) hanging down and unhooked, but the rest of the hotel was clean and cosy, although some communal areas could do with an update.

Bar opened very late and the prices were fair with friendly, courteous staff.

Well equipped room, very nice decor, spotlessly clean and warm, mirror and lighting spot on.

Mealtimes were a pleasure, the food was well presented, hot and delicious and the service was excellent the waiters/waitresses worked as a team and were completely attentive at all times, (the best I have experienced in any hotel-well done!)

Two negatives: late night/early hours it was so noisy to the extent that you could hear the shouting/screaming from a nightclub (?) at empty out time-difficult to sleep. Also the entertainment was 'corny' and amateurish, but the bar was open throughout and there are plenty of pubs with live entertainment locally.

All in all great value for money

Room Tip: Our noisy room was at the back of the hotel

We stayed at The Crown over New Year 2012 on a four day break with a coach party. Having spent New Year holidays in various venues in the UK over the past 12 years this was by far the best. Our bedroom was clean, warm and comfortable with excellent lighting (what a bonus) and a good shower cubicle with oodles of hot water. I always bring a large bath towel in my case but it was not needed as the Crown's towels are huge.

Every member of staff was chatty and helpful, the food was superb and the menus varied and the service in the restaurant second to none. The entertainment was not quite 5 star but very acceptable.

If you are contemplating holidaying on the south coast please do consider The Crown, you will be welcomed with open arms and enjoy the best of British hospitality. We will be back.

Room Tip: Room 58 was quiet

stayed one night (thank goodness) asked for a quiet room at the back knowing the front overlooked the street, we were given an room with noe double glazing and the air conditioner?boiler whatever it was , was right outside our window, thaat we could cope with, but the landing we were on seem to be full of young people who spent a lot of time calling to each other and doors were slamming most of the time , we phoned the eporter who did his best but within a few minutes it started again, in the end my husband had to have words with them, we certainly we not recomend this hotel to anyone.

Room Tip: choose another hotel

We travelled to Weymouth with Barfordian coaches and on arrival were greeted by the Manager of the hotel. The outside and ground floor reception and bar were rather shabby and dated but we were very impressed by the efficiency of staff and speed of booking us in. Cases were quickly taken to our rooms for us by the 'case boys'. Our room was probably the best in the hotel occupying a corrner area with a huge bow window overlooking the bridge and harbour. It was extremely spacous and spotlessly clean. A comfy bed and large bathroom made our stay most enjoyable. On going down to the bar for a welcome coffee the bar staff were friendly and made us feel at home straight away. The food was superb with a good choice every day. The waitressing staff were so efficient and friendly it made mealtimes a real pleasure. Nothing was too much trouble and they accomodated my husband's 'dairy free' diet without fuss. When we left we forgot to check the dressing table drawer and left behind a couple of electric chargers and a camera. When we rang up the next day we were told that they had already packed them up and sent them recorded delivery. We received them the next day and the hotel said there was no charge. Amazing service. A lick of paint downstairs would bring it up to a good 3 star but I have to say some 4 star hotels could learn from this friendly hotel especially in the customer care department.

Room Tip: Room 69 a corner room with a good view

Value for money central hotel. Its not the most modern and it is noisy at weekends ( from surrounding pubs) but for the money and located in such a central area how can anyone complain. The average age of guests is high so I guess they dont like the noise.

The staff were friendly it was clean it was central so all fine.

I have rated hotels which cost nearly 10 times as much no higher. If you want someshere clean central and value for money you wont beat this place
