“small mouldy bathroom”
Reviewed September 21, 2012

the best thing was the view - grubby room, mould in the tiny bathroom, only one tiny lift, parking behind hotel in scruffy state with barely negotiable spaces, breakfast adequate. all in all a very disappointing stay in what looked from the outside to be a quality hotel. never again.

After reading some of the reviews I was a little apprehensive about this hotel. We arrived on Saturday afternoon and were directed to the car park at the rear of the hotel. The parking is very tight and we found the Russell Hotel car park to be much easier to park in. You have to leave your keys with reception in case they have to move your car. The reception staff were very polite and helpful, the lift is a little quirky but it worked and was plenty big enough for two people and a suitcase. Our room (205) was pleasant with a seaview and a flat screen tv. It was clean and there was tea, coffee and hot chocolate available. The bathroom was a little dated and could have done with a deep clean. Breakfast was a help yourself buffet and everything was hot and plentiful. There was plenty of room in the dining room and the staff were polite and friendly. The bathroom wasn't cleaned particularly well on the second day and one of the towels was left on the floor and not replaced. The road is noisy but that's the price you pay for a sea view, The room was unbearably hot with the windows closed but the hotel provided a fan which did the job. All in all the hotel was nice but a little expensive. The front of house staff are great but the room cleaners could do with a bit of a kick up the bum.

Very tired looking, carpet in the rooms very dirty. Car parking almost non-existant if busy. Front room was large overlooking the sea with nice view. TV old fashioned. Bathroom very cramped and furnishings well worn. The bed was hard and the lift probably pre-war and tiny. Breakfast was adequate biut nothing special. Wouldn't want to stay there again. Four star prices for two star quality. If you have to cancel for whatever reason you lose your deposit.

Room Tip: Only go for a sea view.

We stayed at this hotel on a recommendation from friends and it lived up to expectations.
The room we had booked was upgraded to room 123 which had a sea view, was clean spacious with a large bed (made up of two singles pushed together) a bathroom with a bath.
The Tea and Coffee facilities were good and topped up daily.
The Breakfast was excellent and the evening meals were very tasty.
All the staff were helpful and cheerful
The only complaint was the free wireless was a bit flakey as room 123 is on the periphery of the hotel.
All in a a relaxing long weekend.

Room Tip: The rooms at the front on the 1st floor are the best

i had hoped for a relaxing weekend with my husband as it was his birthday,on arrival at the hotel ,we were given room 114 which overlooked the kitchen area of the hotel ,and the carpark and smoking area ,there was no view at all of the sea as i had requested ,so i complained to the reception but was told the hotel was fully booked and i had to put up with this room ,the room itself was huge had 4 beds obviously a family room far to big for my husband and i ,the hotel offers no entertainment but you can go via a corridor to the russel hotel next door [they have entertainment every night ]the hotel is suitable for elderley people as most things are geared to the older generation ,this is a very noisy hotel we didnt get to sleep until around 2.30 in the morning due to a wedding that went on until the early hours ,overall this hotel is outdated ,overpriced ,i personally would not go to the prince regent again

Room Tip: always insist when booking that you do want a seaview,do not pay the balance till you have seen your...

This hotel is well worth a second visit. Our room was spacious and well decorated and had a lovely seaview. All staff were pleasant and obliging (especially Abigail on reception) Breakfast was good although tablecloths were not always clean. Their main meals howeverwere just about average and not good value for money. The entertainment provided was rubbish. Anything we asked of them was done quickly and efficiently. The main problem was finding parking space which of course was not the fault of the hotel. We will certainly be going back there.

Room Tip: choose 107 it is tastefully decorated with a modern shower room and his and hers wash basins

There are many things I can say about the Prince Regent and will start with the only good thing I can say about my two night stay there. When I complained about its many faults such as the filthy rooms, stained furniture, mould infested bathrooms rotten windows that dont open I received £140 refund. In my opinion this is no where near enough and I will be writing to the head office for a full refund. I will also be writing to the AA who have given this crumbling ruin three stars to ask if their assessor actually stayed there!

Room Tip: avoid rooms 202 and 206 unless you like filth and wires hanging out of the wall
