“NEVER would i stay in this hotel again!!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 2, 2011

Myself & my Son were looking forward to coming to Weymouth to catch up with family that were already holidaying in a different hotel. Although a flying visit (1 nights stay) we were looking forward to it.Before i start my rant, the hotel is in a very good location....apart from parking!!!! I shall get back to that!! We were slightly disappointed when we entered the room, but could put up with wot we had seen. But upon opening the window, found it to be very dirty & didnt want to touch it!! A VERY uncomfortable night due to the room being extremely warm!...even with the (dirty) window open!! I then get woken up early the next morning to ask me to move my car!! Thought thats why i left my keys in reception for nominated staff to do that!!?? On approaching reception and complaining about having to move my car, found receptionist to have a "so what" attitude!! Myself being a receptionist,i would NEVER have an attitude like that to the general public!!....note to Manager.....staff need public relations training asap!! I was sooo annoyed,we checked out shortly after that due to being so angry so therefore, didnt even have breakfast!! Complete waste of money and would NOT recommend this hotel at all!

We visited this hotel 5 years ago as guests at a wedding function and thought then that one day we must return. We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived that we could park on the neighbouring hotel car park as we had read some reviews that seemed the only gripe was parkng.. The reception staff were very pleasant and extremely helpful with information. Room was very nice, if not massive, with all things that you needed, hairdryer etc. TV wasn't the most up to date with not many channels but i suppose with digital switchover soon that should improve. The bed was massive.
Our only problem we had was with the bathroom. Not very big, but to make matters worse the shower consisted of a 3 x 3 shower tray that was only a few inches deep with a shower curtain that wasn't fit for purpose because we flooded the bathroom floor unless you pu 2 towels down,
But apart from that the rest of our stay was great. Breakfast was eat as much as you wanted with plenty of choice.

Cannot think of another word other than excellent "Thank you"
On arrival staff were very friendly and helpfull, the car park was full but we were immediatly told we could use the car park next door or purchase a refundable pass for street parking, which we did and except for one night where we used the hotel next door leaving car keys with their receptionist had no problems whatsoever.
Our room was massive with a good size bathroom, excellent view, extremely clean and well decorated.
Staff were extremely friendly and curtious throughout the say.
Breakfast was good, staff again very helpfull.
Hotel situatated in excellent position on sea front with evening entertaiment provided at hotel next door for those who want it.
Good selection of local information provided in foyer.
Plenty of choice at breakfast and although we didnt use the evening meal facility seemed to be a good choice of food.
Slight problem with toilet not flushing but an apology was made and this was rectified within an hour.
Cannot fault the hotel and we Are looking forward to using your Hotel at Weston Super mare for a Big Band Weekend.

Room Tip: Pay the Extra for sea View it is worth it.

This hotel has a great position right on the sea front - literally just across the road is the beach (pebbly at this part though) - so you really must get a room with a sea view if you can.

The hotel is very popular with more senior clientele but they were very friendly and chatty. Check in was efficient but the receptionist was a little patronizing on a few of the queries!

Our room was HUGE - there was sooooo much space. The bed was comfy too (it was a duvet rather than blankets). The room must have been refurbished fairly recently and it was pretty clean.

We had a lovely view out of the big sash window too.

The major downside we had was the heat in the room. It was July but the temperature outside was only 18 or 19C. We had to check to see if the heating was on it was so hot! We actually measured the temperature in the room in the morning when we managed to cool it down the most and it was still 28C! Due to the secondary glazing on the window you could only get air through half of one of the sash windows - there was a desk fan though so we positioned this to draw in the cooler air outside. We had to have the fan on full all night - so we had to have the curtains partly open too which let the sunshine flood in.

There were a couple of other niggles that I am sure will be ironed out once the room gets a bit more use - the toilet roll holder was virtually at floor level, one of the taps was positioned so that the water barely trickled into the sink, so washing your hands was a bit difficult and there were a couple of blood stains on one of the duvet covers.

The shower was very powerful too which was great, although the water didn't seem to drain away that quickly so it was a little worrying - I thought I might flood the bathroom!

The bar area and restaurant were spacious and well kept - we had breakfast which was either a hot or cold buffet, all good and kept well stocked, but the orange juice was the standard hotel version - watered down and tasteless. The breakfast staff were attentive and bought across tea, coffee and toast very quickly and were polite.

The car parking has been mentioned in many of the reviews. They do make it clear it is very limited - but if you have a car and follow their instructions you should be fine.

Overall, a really nice hotel in an excellent sea front position.

Room Tip: You must ask for a room with a sea view!

Great hotel which is directly opposite the sea front. We managed to get a car parking space which was good news. Room was quite high up in the hotel, but had amazing sea views. Bed was comfortable, room and bathroom was very clean. Lovely fluffy towels. Hotel slightly tired, but very clean. The two hearty breakfasts we had were amazing, great choice of hot cooked food and also great choice of serials, fruit, yoghurt etc. The staff were also very polite. Would definitely recommend and would go back ! Great value for money hotel.

Stayed here for 2 nights 30th June and 1st of July I went with my husband and my mother and father age group from 45 years to 67 years we honestly could not fault a thing all the staff were amazing helpful and a bit of fun, our rooms were out of this world we had executive rooms which were very large very clean and nicely decorated with amazing sea views, breakfast was lush it was self serve and everything was fresh and hot, nice to have what you want to eat rather than being given what you get.. I was really worried by reading other reviews, but can honestly say it was great don't know what they are on about. It is rated a 3 star I would rate it 4 star. We stay in a lot of hotels and are quite fussy. One thing people got to remember you only get what you pay for, we had the best rooms but didn't think it was expensive for what we had. Thankyou very much to all staff and we will defininatley be coming back.

Have to been to lovely weymouth many times, beautiful beaches and history, this stay ruined my experience of weymouth. Hotel staff overall were unfriendly, discourteous and generally amateurish in there duties. Dining at this hotel was very poor. repetitive menu lacking in freshness and taste. Room we stayed in was large with comfortable beds but it hardly compensates for the unclean and decadent surroundings.

I have read and taken notice of what you say. Now I would like to reply. My staff are not unfriendly, or discourteous to any guest. They are fully trained and are working in the hospitality business through choice. They will not rise their livelyhood to be unpleasent to one guest. Why would they? If you found all these traits in them I sincerely apologise but would suggest that they always respond well to positive conversation!!
As to the menu - It is a fixed menu which changes every day on a rolling 7 days. We also have within the menu an A'la carte selection each day. We have on each menu a choice of meat, fish or vegetarian and always 3 courses (with 3 or 4 choices for each). Maybe you have made it repetitive by not varying your selections!!
I note that you were happy with your room, even though you marked it down to the minimum in your very and that you think nothing can compensate for the unclean and decadence of the property. May I then add that other reviewers are, as I am, happy in the knowledge that rooms and general areas are very clean. We make mistakes from time to time and apologise if you feel there was a problem. However.... Decadent ? This hotel has had many hundreds of thousands of pounds spent on it in the last 2 years. We are currently upgrading all rooms and even turning a whole floor into executive standards. Decadence is defined as - in decay or decline!!! I respectfully suggest that you are not right!
