Home from a lovely week in Weymouth staying at this guest house. We had room 22, a large family room with two large windows giving a fabulous view over the beach and the bay. It gave us an excellent vantage point to watch the Carnival Day parade and display from the Red Arrows.

Room itself was very clean, and as others have commented, the beds are so comfortable. Plentiful supplies of teas and coffees provided too although toiletries were minimal, just small soap tablets so bring your own shower gel and shampoo. Shower and bathroom are small but were fine. You got to remember this is an old Georgian house which was not built with en-suite bathrooms in mind. Some people should bear that in mind rather than complain the bathroom is small.

Breakfast was very substantial with fresh fruit, a good choice of cereals and fruit juices and a good full English breakfast with tea / coffee / toast etc. The dining room was very spacious with good views across the beach to the sea.

Dean and Maya were the perfect hosts, helpful when booking the room and during our stay. They bet over to try and be as helpful as they possible could. I really can't believe some of the comments made by others criticising this couple.

Location is spot on. 5 mins walk from the rail station on the sea front near the clock tower. We don't drive but anyone with an ounce of common sense would do their research before booking and realise you can't park on the esplanade in front of the guest house so no point again in criticising Dean and Maya. Besides there is parking nearby and you only need to ask Dean first about it.

I've visited Weymouth now three times with my family. Staying in different guest houses on or near the sea front on each occasion. A Maiden Rest is by far the best of the three we stayed at and I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone visiting Weymouth for a holiday.

Room Tip: Try and book a room with a sea view...you won't regret it at all.

Just got back from a stay here and can honestly say I'm extremely pleased. We (2 adults and 2 children) stayed in one of the family rooms and it was very relaxing. The beds were the most comfortable of any that we have stayed in at any hotel. The room was spacious and clean with a powerful shower which was a bonus. The owner Dean and his wife were very friendly and went out of their way to ensure my family had a great stay. Breakfast in the morning was very generous. There was a choice of fresh fruit, cereals, various juices, tea, coffee and of course a selection of full english breakfasts, bacon sandwiches and so on. This was even followed by toast, we didn't need to eat again for most of the day! We would definitely stay again in the future although after speaking with a regular visitor over breakfast he advised us to book directly with the owner as it's cheaper. The kids loved it, we loved it, the hotel was great and Weymouth itself is a lovely place to explore. Recommended.

We have just returned from a one night stay which was lovely. The room was clean and spacious and suited our needs. Breakfast was really good! Have booked to return again at the end of August for a couple of nights. Tip, book direct with hotel rather than booking.com or similar as it works out cheaper!
