“Our local haunt”
Reviewed December 31, 2012

We regularly visit the Nothe Tavern especially for their wonderful carvery on a Sunday available till 8pm. It's always very popular. They also have draft local beer which is a big plus. Menu is varied with specials for every palette. Worth a visit especially in the summer as the beer garden overlooks the harbour

“Tastebuds love the Tavern”
Reviewed December 11, 2012

We don't tend to eat out every week so, when we do, we like to know that we have something mouth-watering waiting for us.
The Nothe Tavern has been our venue for birthdays, anniversaries and other celebrations for some time now simply because there is always a warm welcome and the food is excellent.
The dining area stretches down to window tables with a view over the harbour and town.
The last time I ate there I had duck which was beautifully cooked and a chocolate desert which had all my tastebuds stood to attention.
If you add to that prices which won't break the bank, spotless linen and presentation and, on sunny summer evenings, a chance to enjoy good views then you can't really go wrong.
There is even the Victorian Nothe Fort just up the road for those who fancy a bit of exercise to sharpen their appetite first, but check the Fort's website to make sure of its opening hours as these vary according to the season.

“Still serving excellent meals with a smile”
Reviewed December 5, 2012

The Nothe Tavern has enjoyed a long reputation of excellent food. It is set out of the way and the parking is mainly in a council-run car-park directly opposite which may add to the cost of the experience. The meals have trended towards the excellent 'pub grub' rather than popularly priced 'fine dining' over the years. It just comes with twice as many chips as it used to! I ate with a party of 8 on a pre-Christmas evening when the restaurant was packed. However, the service was fast and efficient with the food hot and hearty. Well worth the journey to seek out this pub/restaurant.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback from the recent visit to the Nothe Tavern. As you mentioned the pub has a long history and is well known and used by many locals and we our proud to continue the tradition it deserves. Your review mentions the car park opposite, well a good bit of news is the council have dropped charges at certain times. It is now free to park after 6pm Monday to saturday and free all day Sunday, until the end of february 2013.

I am glad you and your party enjoyed a pre Christmas evening with us and we will look forward to welcoming you for many more years to come.
