“Fantastic!!”
Reviewed July 1, 2012

Me and my boyfriend took his son to The Bay View hotel for a one night stay. I am quite funny about where I stay and do not normally stay at b&b's. On arrival we were greeted by Jean who made us feel comfortable and welcome from the start. We went into the sitting room to register and jean was talking to my boyfriends son. She showed us to our room that was a family room on the top floor. We had a double bed and a single bed in the room as well as a wardrobe, dressing table, tea and coffee facilities and an en suite bathroom. I could not fault the room, it was clean, tidy and the whole hotel smelt fresh. Jean asked us what we had planned for the two days we were there and told us about the local attractions and what would be good to visit. She also gave us a half price ticket to the sea life centre (that we did not end up using.) The hotel is right opposite the beach and a short walk from the harbour. It is ideal for people with small children a it's nice and quiet of an evening but just a short walk to the town centre. After a great nights sleep we went down for breakfast. Jean was there to greet us again and asked us about our day the day before and what we were going to do with our day and gave us some more suggestions, it was nice that she had remembered what we had spoken about. Breakfast could not be faulted. With cereal, fruit and different fruit juices that we could help ourselves too. Jean had already asked us the day before what we wanted for breakfast and no sooner had we had our tea and coffee brought over to us our full English breakfasts and toast arrived. Jean was in the dinning area talking to all the guests which meant everyone was quite chatty during breakfast. I can honestly say I cannot fault this place. It was to a very high standard and we will definitely be retuning again!

We stayed here at short notice and had not booked prior to arrival, arriving in Weymouth at 6 o clock in the evening and decided to check availability here as the guest house looked inviting from the outside and had car parking facilities. Jean was very helpful and inviting and showed us the room which was very nice and clean, we were in a back room which was fine so no traffic noise, bed was very comfortable albeit the quilt was a bit thick but no danger of getting cold! Room was clean and extra touches of mints and extra's in bathroom was very nice.Breakfast at 8:30 was fine by us and was excellent, good choice of cereal and nice full english breakfast. We only stayed for 2 nights as on a short break and it was excellent for that. Well situated to walk around Weymouth and for facilities and we were able to leave the car in guest house car park for the day. Jean was very friendly and helpful about places to go etc in Weymouth. Would well recommend this guest house

We have just returned home after 5 days in weymouth staying at The Bay guest house for 4 nights. We were made very welcome by jean. The room was ensuite with a double bed which was very comfortable. Everyday the room was cleaned to perfection. The guest house was in a great position , just over the road from the beach and all the shops were close. The bus service in Weymouth was good. We found our few days very relaxing. We were spoiled by the delicious breakfasts and there was car parking too which was great , we didn't need to get in the car all the time we were at the bay. Certainly would stay there again.

I booked the Bay Guest house at very short notice, because our usual choices were unable to accommodate us.What follows is an honest review of this establishment. The review of the room is based on room 2, which is situated at the front of the B and B and overlooks a very busy main road, traffic noise can be an issue, but it does quieten down after midnight. One can see the beach from this room.
The room was clean and well furnished and surprisingly had an electric radiator, rather than central heating, the radiator had a built in timer, so could be set to come on and go off at times to suit, or in my case, set to stay on, but setting the thermostat on the radiator kept the room at a nice temperature. In so many other guest houses with central heating, you are at the mercy of the owner who decides when the heating should come on and go off!!
The bed was very comfortable with a very heavy duvet!! No chance of getting cold!!
The furniture in my room was in general fairly new and in good condition with plenty of hanging space in the wardrobe.
The en-suite was a little on the small side, but was perfectly satisfactory, with a good selection of toiletries and even a sewing kit!!
The hospitality try had a good selection of teas and coffees etc and the usual packs of biscuits. However a nice touch was the after dinner mints, 4 in my room!
Jean - the owner is very friendly and helpful.
Breakfast - as with so many other B and B's I've stayed in, you are expected to choose your breakfast choice the night before, I can understand the reason for doing this, but it makes you feel a little awkward if you change your mind! A previous review did comment on the fact that the full english comprised of one of everything - I can confirm this is the case, I feel that a couple of sausages and a couple of slices of bacon would be more acceptable and surely wouldn't cost much extra? That criticism apart, there was an excellent choice of cereals, fruit juices, etc. Breakfast is served between 8:30 and 9, however Jean does seem to ask that you be there at 8:30!!

OK, so there were a couple of negatives, car parking would be a real issue if the B and B was full, it would be a logistical nightmare getting in and out of a car park which can accommodate 8 cars, but leaves no space to get or out of the car park if full. There is very little on street parking in this area, so if unable to park at the B and B you could have real problems finding somewhere to park.
Secondly, I find it annoying that when paying by card a £1.50 charge is levied,
It cost us £111 for 2 rooms for one night, not overly expensive for a guest house literally a 2 minute walk from the beach.
So would I use this B and B again - yes!!

Room Tip: Room 2 is at front of property, facing onto a busy main road Room 1 faces the rear of the property

We stayed here for one night and found Jean a very good host who made us feel very welcome, the room that we had was clean and presented well, the on suite facillites were small and cramped and the shower was hard to operate and get to the right temperture, but we got there in the end. We did however find lipstick on one of the cups in the room. As with other reviewers the bed was one of the best we have ever slept in and very comfortable, the biscuits and the choccies were a nice touch on the courtesy tray.
We had requested a sea view room and were given a room at the rear even though the guest house only had one other couple.
The room cost of £70.00 seemed high compared with other guest house and also dearer than the ones actually on the sea front, the web site stated that the price was down from £140.00????? But as this was almost last minute we were not able to book into these.
Breakfast was served at 08-30 and there was a very good choice of cereals, juices and yoghurts etc; the only complaint about the breakast was that we were not asked what we required and a cooked full English just appeared when all we required was a couple of poached eggs and some kippers saying that, the breakfast was very good, but not really what we wanted, we were just not asked.
The night was quiet until a few rowdies came along the back road but this was not down to The Bay and we soon got off to sleep again. We had no trouble with parking at the rear as we were the only couple with a vehicle that we saw, but this could get busy at high season.

Room Tip: Room one was quite small.

We just stayed the one night at the end of February, as we fancied a night away. The room was very lovely and exceptionally clean, and the bed was comfortable too. We picked the guest house, because it was slightly away from the town centre, and despite overhearing an argument between another couple staying below us, the area and room in general was quiet, and without the usual saturday night disruptions.
Breakfast was very tasty, and there was plenty of choice. The only thing missing from the cooked breakfast was mushrooms! Also, breakfast is only served between 8:30-9, which is quite limiting, especially at the weekend.
Overall though, a really enjoyable stay.
