“Great fish and chips”
Reviewed September 27, 2013

We visited the Marlboro for a lovely lunch of fish and chips, good sized portions and tasty food. Nice friendly staff. As for the complaint about crinkly chips well the answer is simple if you are that health conscious cut out the chips.

“Super supper!”
Reviewed September 26, 2013

Great variety of fish and one of few places who fry your fish to order which means super crisp and hot fish and chips. Big portions, perfectly fried fresh fish and nice crisp chips. Nice alternatives too like mackerel baps although drinks are overpriced and the eat in section looked like a time warp. I'm sure this place gets alot of hype and publicity thanks to Hugh but it is well deserved. Hint - get a take out, walk around the corner and sit by the harbour, just beware the seagulls!!!

“Crinkly chips - a bad move”
Reviewed September 25, 2013

Living in Weymouth we often go to get our Fish and Chips from the Marlboro but recently they have "by popular demand" introduced only crinkly chips and not straight cut chips. Crinkly chips are known to be more fattening than the straight types and for this reason we will think twice before going again. We try to be health concious when we can and accept that all chips are unhealthy but we would like a choice. On the other hand have never been disappointed with the fish and chips.

Thanks for your review and glad to see you have always enjoyed your visits to the Marlboro.
Your thoughts on the crinkle cut chip shop chip may not be accurate according to an article in the Daily Mail & the manufacturer of our chipping equipment. The double slicing action of our chipper gives every crinkle cut chip the smoothest possible surface which is sealed almost immediately on entering the pan. This reduces frying time and plays an important part in producing a top quality chip. In fact according to the article straight cut chips in fast food establishments contain approx 30% more fat per 100g than a chip shop chip. Even worse would be the per packed frozed chips used by some of our other competitors which reduce the temperature of the frying fat which means longer cooking time and allows them to absorb even more fat. Of course all our chips are peeled and cut daily on the premises to produce the best possible chip for our customers.

“Fab fish n chips”
Reviewed September 24, 2013

We were recommended to this chippy by our B&B owners as the best in town and they were right. I tried the Mackerel in a bap with chilli sauce, salad and chips and hubby had Plaice and chips. Both were huge, ultra fresh, perfectly cooked with light crispy batter and fantastic soft fat crinkle cut chips with crispy edges. Restaurant was busy but staff were polite, friendly and efficient. Would definitely be top of our list when visiting Weymouth.
