We booked direct with the Park because we had a left things a bit late, there are privately owned vans onsite but i think you would have to get in early for one of those. Also, i don't think you would get the Entertainment Passes you need for the club and pool area, i suppose you can buy them at Reception because it stated on ours that if we lost them it would cost £20 per pass to replace. As for the site i couldn't fault it. The reception staff on arrival were very helpfull. Our van was situated in the GREEN area which was a short walk from the main entertainment venue. On arrival at the van i was very pleased on the cleanliness and the lovely smell coming from it. They had put tea and milk out for us which was a nice touch and doesnt happen at many parks. There was a decent size tv which had freeview on. There was kids entertainment everyday from 10.30 for about an hour. We traveled with my wife, daughter and 2 grandchildren. The pool area was very child freindly, with a large slide and lifeguards on duty. The evening entertainment started with a few kids songs and dances with Krazy Kev for about half an hour and was followed by bingo for about 45 mins. The cash prizes were quite good i must add. More kids songs followed that before the main caberet started at 9.30. It was a mixture of tribute singers and comedians over the 4 nights we stayed. The Robbie Williams tribute being the best we saw. Weymouth is just 3 miles away and has ample parking oposite the shopping centre. The shops are excellent and plentiful with most of the top names available. Weymouth beach is spotless but does tend to get packed in peak season. Having said that you can always find a place to sit.
The park has a small shop which sells just about everything you would need for self catering, and there is also a decent take-away for hot meals you can take into the venue to watch a show if you want. All in all we would go back, so that in itself is a good reccomendation

we had a great holiday at this site. We saved £100 booking direct through owners
a-break-away.co.uk. Our holiday home was a top of range with a deck, the views were fantastic. Our whole holiday experience was great from booking, arriving at our holiday home to be met by the owners, who showed us round, gave us some pointers on where to eat, what to visit if the weathers not great(which it was) to telling us to give them a ring if we needed anything, the beds were made, there was tea, coffee, milk and biscuits waiting for us. Amazing. The home was spotless, the same has to be said of the site, it's staff and the area. We highly recommend this 5 star site and a break aways 5 star approach. We'll be back.

Never did I expect this to be such a great value or so much fun. That morning I called our travel agent and said "I want to go to the beach and don't want to have to leave and come home. Find us somewhere to book for the week. " Turned out to probably be the hottest week for a long time in the UK!

The caravans are all on concrete pads so they remain nice and tidy on entering, not tracking lots of stuff in as would happen in an ordinary campground. I thought it was ON the beach but it isn't, therefore my lower rating in only that area above. But...we were really only about three miles from Weymouth Beach which is where you want to go for swimming. And for parking, just go to the parking nearest the beach and pay. Go toward the Ferry Terminal driving east along the Esplanade as shown on this map:

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=Portland+Road+%7C+Chesil+Beach,+Weymouth+DT4+9AG,+England&sll=41.406364,2.214646&sspn=0.006341,0.013368&ie=UTF8&ll=50.609096,-2.449844&spn=0.002683,0.006684&t=h&z=17

Head straight for the pay and display. You'll be as close as you could hope for.

Chesil Beach is a walk away from the Holiday Park but is all shingle.

The island of Portland is lovely and our five children and I had SO much fun exploring. We found two playgrounds where we stopped to play. We found a prison and marveled at all the barbed wire around it. We found the lighthouse but couldn't ascend because our "baby" wasn't old enough. We sat on the edge of the rocky cliffs and watched for dolphinis and seals and whales but failed to see any although it was fun to look! We determined we had to bring my husband there when he arrived for the weekend with us.

We also found DURDLE DOOR! What a WONDER of a spot! I went twice in two days! First day was alone with the five kids. Second day was with the oldst and the youngest and my husband. My son (14) and I even ended up swimming in the very cold water of th English Channel and swam out and popped through the door even! I had SO much fun. It was quite an effort to do those stairs two days in a row and me carrying the three year old for about half of it; but it was WORTH IT!

The Holiday Park had entertainment going in the evenings! Some was cheesy but great, the rest was just good fun! LOVED it! Not full-on professionals for the whole show but for part of it and the staff who performed for their parts certainly put their hearts into it! Bingo was a scream!

The waterpark was an indoor child's pool, pool, and water slide. Probably the nicest quality (safety) I have seen in the UK.

The store on-site was pretty good but there is an ASDA just before the boat harbor that we shopped at several times to purchase food to make dinners in the caravan. The Take-Away service at the resort had reall spot-on pizzas in my opinion. We'd buy a couple and head to the lounge and purchase some sea salt crisps, slushies, and wine and enjoy ourselves thoroughly. We even brought some playing cards in one evening and played until the show began.

Just a short walk from the resort is a fine seafood restaurant for where bookings are highly reccomended, the Crab House Cafe:

We had so much more fun than we ever expected!
