“Loved it.......”
Reviewed June 11, 2014

Having decided on a spur of the moment break away, my partner and I rocked up in Weymouth last Saturday (7th June) without booking anywhere. We walked along the front and decided on Gloucester House.....thank god we did. We were welcomed warmly by Geoff and shortly after by his wife Chris. We went for a sea view room, it was lovely, clean and the bed was so comfortable. Bathroom was immaculate. You couldn't ask for more. We were issued with a parking permit which was a relief as parking in Weymouth is quite restricted. Breakfast was wonderful and plentiful and served with a smile (even on a Sunday!). A good selection too, and our tummies were filled up till way after normal lunchtime. We were not rushed into leaving which also added to the relaxed experience. Although we were not rushed I somehow managed to leave a top in the wardrobe which wasn't realised until we got to our next destination for the night ( we were planning on a night in 2 different places) my partner rang and spoke too Geoff who said they would send top too our home address at no cost too us. It arrived Tuesday morning....thank you Geoff and Chris. This just added to our stay and the summing up that if or when we go back too Weymouth we will without a doubt stay at Gloucester House again.

Having just returned from a week at the Gloucester House for the second time,as usual we received a very warm welcome from Chris and Geoff. We had a lovely comfortable room and bed with an uninterrupted sea view with balcony. The room was clean and bright.Geoffs breakfasts were as usual "Ist class" and Chris and the girls gave "service with a smile" and nothing was too much trouble. "We shall return"!

This is where I come to stay every summer since 2009. As I had free time over Easter I came down for the weekend to stay. Geoff and Chris have transformed this from a very good hotel into one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. The breakfasts are simply fantastic and the hosts do everything possible to ensure that guests have a pleasant stay. I shall be going for a week next month. This cannot come soon enough.

We visited Gloucester House a few weeks ago for a holiday break. We found the B&B and location excellent. Our room was on the top floor and was very clean with a great sea view of the whole beach. It was very peaceful to wake up in the morning and see the beach and the sea right from our bedroom window. I have noticed some other reviews on this hotel and totally disagree as our room was perfect for our stay. The hospitality was brilliant and we were really made to feel at home by the friendly owners. We also enjoyed our hearty breakfast's every morning which helped set us up for the day ahead. The location was great being only a stones throw from the beach and within easy access of all the main areas of Weymouth.

Ultimately we had a really fantastic stay and would highly recommend this B&B. We will definitely be staying again in the near future.

Once again we were greeted with a very warm and friendly welcome. Our room was spotless; everything was in perfect condition and the bedding in particular looked brand new. As the sun shone throughout our stay we were able to really appreciate the wonderful sea view from our room. We thoroughly enjoyed the full English breakfast served in the lovely bistro style breakfast room.

Thanks to Chris and Geoff for suggesting many places to visit and for the helpful directions - we opted for Tyneham Village and Lulworth Cove which we thoroughly enjoyed. We must return as there are so many more places to see.

We have been going to Gloucester House for many years and have always received a warm welcome and experienced the wonderful hospitality generated by Chris , Geoff and the staff . Our room , with a superb sea view was comfortable and met all the expectations you would hope for when seeking holiday accommodation . New shower units have been fitted this year which is one of the many features that this forward looking establishment is introducing as they strive to make your stay enjoyable , relaxing and to the highest standard . The full English Breakfast is one that will take some beating .

Situated close to all the amenities this is the ideal B&B for all ages .

We are both looking forward to returning in 2015

Terry & Sheila

We went here for 2 days, to visit this lovely area, specially the Jurassic Coast. We stayed in a very little bedroom, with a very old mattress. The seaview was not really what I expected, as the seaview is more like a wall-view if you are not specially tall.
It was clean and quiet, but I was really sad to pay 70 pounds for a bedroom like this one. Specially when the bedroom is as small as you have to choose between open your suitcase or open the bathroom door. You have to pay at arrival as well.
The breakfast was okay and the service really fast. Otherwise the "dining-room" looks more like a factory during the morning, there is definitely too many people so you don't really feel like a guest like in all the B&B I visited before. Chris and Geoff are nice but I didn't feel really welcomed, it should me more warm and friendly from my point of view.

Dear so d
We are very saddened that you feel your stay with us was disappointing.
We pride ourselves on our welcome and attention to our guests, however we do not force ourselves upon guests who wish to be left to themselves. We wish that you had mentioned your disappointment whilst you were with us so that we could have the opportunity to help in some way.
The room mentioned is advertised as a “smaller sea view double” and is priced at a lesser cost than a standard sea view. You were informed at the time of booking that you had been allocated this room we explained the fact it was a smaller room which you accepted.
The mattress in the room is less than a year old and is made by “Sealy” so we cannot understand why you think it was an old one.
In line with other Guest Houses, that do not have a 24 hour reception, we take payment on arrival so that should you wish to leave early or we are busy at your check out time, you are not delayed.
We are not a small B&B but a Guest House with 15 rooms and as such when we are full (as we were when you stayed) the breakfast room is a little busy but hardly factory like.
You stated that we were not very welcoming which we find very surprising as on your arrival we issued you with a parking permit, assisted you in finding a parking space, carried your luggage to your room and took time out to learn your first names.
You did not mention that on the day of your departure we let you hold on to the parking permit until midday so that you did not have to pay for parking.
If you decide to return to Weymouth in a quieter period, perhaps you could try one of our sea view rooms on a lower floor.
