“Weymouth”
Reviewed July 30, 2013

I've just had a recent trip to Weymouth and thought that the beach was lovely, there was sand for the kids with some amusement rides to keep them occupied. There are also plenty of places to eat and it doesn't feel like a tacky seaside resort!

The harbour has a lovely feel to it with a nice walk along each side and again some nice places to eat. Parking didn't seem to be a issue either. There are plenty of spots even if you have to walk a little way to get to them / where you want to be.

There are shops if you want them but while there are quite a few there aren't a whole load of places in my opinion to buy clothes / shoes. There is a Debenhams and smaller TK Maxx and a Monsoon nearby but not a whole lot else. Depends what you are looking for - there are plenty of gift places.

In Brewers Quay there is a fabulous antique / vintage / old stuff emporium to wander through - there were many things I could have come away with if I had the space for them at home!!

“Great for kids”
Reviewed July 30, 2013

Lovely clean sandy beach. Safe for kids as you can walk out for miles. Close to shops so Mum can leave the kids with Dad on the beach. Visit tea cabin for Childhay Manor (locally made) ice creams. Use cheap park and ride as parking is not cheap in Weymouth. We live near the beach and visit most days summer and winter. Beach cleaned daily so always lovely!

“Weymouth day out”
Reviewed July 30, 2013

huge expanse of clean soft sand, with easy access to shallow water, ideal for the little ones.
resident for 28 years, unfortunately due to a legacy from the Olympics the traffic system has been altered by a complete lunatic with roundabouts replaced by sets of traffic lights where someone is going to die from old age or boredom waiting for them to change from red to green !!
Park and ride or train access is recommended !!

“Something for everyone.”
Reviewed July 30, 2013

Weymouth beach stretches from Weymouth to Overcombe, a distance of approxmatley 4 miles. The most popular part for families is pure golden sands. There is even an area designated for those with pets. Beach amusments are in abundant as are tea cabins and general refreshment establishments. Further to the east the sand turns to pebbles but is favoured by the locals as it is the best area for those who like to swim. The most popular area's which includes the whole of the sandy beach is patroled by the RNLI Life Guards. The beach itself is safe and it has a slow tide with no undercurrent.

The promenade is a delight and stretches virtually the whole length of the beach. Whether you want to switm, sit and watch or just sun bathe, this beach suits all.

Further to the East there are the Greenhill gardens with a small putting green, tennis courts and a couple of well recommended cafe's.

This beach regularly wins awards for its clean water and beach. In the summer every morning before the visitors arrive the beach is cleaned by the council.

Weymouth is well worth a visit and I highly recommend it.
