“Just wonderful!”
Reviewed March 14, 2014

A quiet Thursday night, A good choice of menu and first class service. Excellent food, timing of service was perfection, not rushed, not slow. Certainly not cheap prices ,especially the wine list which we thought expensive. .but you pay for what you get and the food was simply wonderful .
A great evening, thank you all at the Crab House.

“Pricey but sublime”
Reviewed March 11, 2014

The Crab House has recently reopened (March 2014) following a winter refurbishment, and the food and service are as brilliant as ever. Six oysters as a starter (£9) and a smallish but delicious piece of poached turbot (£20 approx) and a bottle of acceptable white wine (£23) mean that this is not a cheap option. However, the food is fresh and excellent, the service is efficient and friendly, and 'walk-ins' queuing for a table all bear witness to the popularity of this place. There's loads of atmosphere and there's not much that can beat eating a lazy Sunday lunch on a sunny day overlooking the fleet lagoon and Portland cliffs. Booking advised, especially at weekends. Closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.

“Another Fabulous Dining Experience”
Reviewed March 4, 2014

This is the second time my husband and I have been to this fabulous restaurant and we always recommend it to friends who are visiting Dorset. Despite being the end of February it was busy as usual and this time we had booked a table for lunch. The staff were as charming as ever and the food divine, as ever. We will definitely go back when we are next in Dorset. Can't recommend it highly enough!

“You will never eat crab as good as this!”
Reviewed March 3, 2014

Don't judge a book by its cover - this little shack at the back of a layby provides the freshest catches from the channel. The crab was the freshest, and hence the tastiest (not to mention the biggest) I have ever tried. Service was excellent, and it was a delight to see into the open kitchen how they were preparing all the food. An absolute must for seafood lovers.

“Wrinklies at the Crab House Cafe”
Reviewed March 3, 2014

Arriving around lunch time on a nasty rainy day to find only one other couple in the place. The mood was brightened up by the staff who made you welcome, and made you feel special.
My wife had her normal Sea Bass which she said was very tasty cooked to perfection, I had a octopus stew for starters followed by mussels, both excellent dishes. The place filled up fast and nearly full by the time we left. The speciality seems to be crab, and many people ordered this, and enjoyed the task of breaking it up having been supplied with an hammer and pincers. The menu is varied and a delight for fish and seafood lovers.
