Our visit to this lakeland hostelry, tucked quietly out of the way, promised a warm welcome on a cold wintry day. However, we were disappointed to find on entering that the wonderful open fire had not an ember glowing and consequently the room and atmosphere was decidly cold. The home made soup and sandwich was fine, but we left quickly to the warmth of our car. A welcoming fire would have made all the difference, creating a cosy atmosphere that would have tempted us to stay longer, and spend more!
