A Very warm and friendly b+b(as soon as you enter you get a friendly feel about the place)Everything about CRICH HOUSE is spotlessly clean. The furniture and fittings are elegant and very comfortable.Once we were shown to our room(which we had a choice of two lucky us)the cleanliness and elegance continued. We chose the back bedroom with views of the garden which turned out to be very quiet and relaxing indeed The bedroom's are filled with loads of "little extras" from homemade cake to sweets .Another nice little touch is the use of the main bathroom with a lovely big bath(please take advantage of the aroma therapy oil kit in the bathroom very relaxing indeed,)Once fully relaxed it was time to explore "BARNY CASTLE" all amenities you could need are in easy walking distance of the b+b.from takeaways to restaurants ("even a tax free greggs") and of course plenty of pubs to visit. Then to finish our lovely stay at "crich house" we finished with an award winning full english breakfast (only fault we were not offered what type of egg on the full english)

Hostess is welcoming and friendly but also leaves you to enjoy your break. Room was spotless and nicely decorated with little surprises.Breakfast a good hearty breakfast. Can't say there's anything I could criticise here.

Good position, parking on the minor road in front. Excellent rooms and food. Good quality ingredients, etc.
Just outside of the central area of Barnard castle where parking is a no-no, but only a couple of minutes away. Castle and river area worth a walk around, very scenic gorge. Good eating nearby for evenings. We enjoyed the whole experience, including visits around teesdale such as High Force,Middleton etc. Recomended!

Room Tip: We were given a room at the rear, a bit quieter I imagine. But the hotel is not close to the main road anyway as there is a service road inbetween.

A very friendly welcome on arrival. Lots of lovely little "extras" such as fresh milk in a little fridge just outside the door and homemade cake on both days we stayed. Alison has been very thoughtful in equipping the room with everything you could possibly need. The room was very clean and bed and pillows comfortable. Good shower and lots of hot water - bathroom available should you prefer a bath. The breakfast was at whatever time we wanted and the table was laid with homemade scones/pancakes - still warm! Loads of choice for all tastes. Free range eggs from their own hens and locally sourced bacon and sausages - some of the best I have ever tasted! No wonder Alison has won awards for her breakfasts. So superior to the awful buffets in expensive hotels! For the price, superb value for money. If I had any criticism at all, it was that the room was quite small and there was no room for a chest or dressing table but that is just my thoughts and really I must remember that this is a great B and B - not a 5 star hotel!! Would thoroughly recommend.

Lovely rooms, spotlessly clean, the owner is the nicest, friendliest B&B owner I have ever met. She has just won the best breakfast award for a B&B in the North Pennine Dales. Cereals, yoghurts, strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, melon etc, drop sones or freshly baked scones on your table, and a wonderful choice of hot breakfasts, using top quality bacon, sausage, eggs and other ingredients. selection of 4 home made jams for your toast afterwards including wonderful lemon curd. The egg whites are not wasted, lovely bags of meringues are on sale to guests. Fresh milk for your tea and coffee, lovely biscuits and sweeties mysteriously appear in your room. Her rates are very good too.

Room Tip: They are all good!
