Payed an Impromptu visit on Bank Holiday Monday for tea. Wanted something healthy and delicious which can be a tall order all too frequently. Not so at the Woolpack. They do delicious salads with grilled chicken, gammon, steak etc. I had piri piri chicken surrounded by really fresh salad, served chunky but not a problem as good honest food, accompanied by two small dishes of dipping sauces- YES home made French dressing instead of the usual mayonnaise-take it or leave it. And a fiery piri piri dip. Really appreciated the sauces being served separately as you can regulate how much you use to your own taste. Husband has home made chicken curry, with rice and chunky home cooked chips (yes real chips) and a popadum -two small dishes of mango chutney and yoghurt and cucumber accompanied. Delicious . Great pub, great company. It's back on the radar.
