My partner and i went with my parents to Beverley for a weekend break, taking in the races, and luckily fell upon the delightful Newbegin House. Mr & Mrs Sweeney could not have been more welcoming, nor done more. The house and area have oodles of character and the rooms are well furnished and very comfortable. On arrival we were given coffee and biscuits in the dining room and each morning we were treated to a real breakfast feast including speciality local sausages. The house is very well located for the centre of Beverley, with ample private parking, and we were given suggestions of good places to eat close by. Overall a very enjoyable weekend...and we shall be back. Thank you Mr & Mrs Sweeney!

Newbegin is easy to find and Walter is friendly, helpful and always easy to talk to.
We were welcomed by our host who made us tea & coffee, took our luggage to our rooms and offered advice as to areas to see & places to eat.
The house is full of character, comfortable with big bedrooms - we were offered a choice of room with bath or room with shower (we took the bath - loads of hot water and shower attachment on the taps).
There was a mini fridge with water & a couple of cans of soft drinks, there were fresh flowers in the room, a large flat screen Tv, wi-fi, tea, coffee, biscuits and chocolates - a hair dryer in the drawer.
High ceilings, rugs and the original floorboards made everything comfortable.

The full 'locally sourced' cooked breakfast was started with choices of fruit salad, yogurt and cereals, fresh bread & butter (a toaster was there too) - enough to keep you going until evening meal.

There is a huge family room at the fronty of the building complete with it's own lounge area.

Thanks - a lovely peaceful place - 2 minutes walk from the town centre.

This is not a hotel for those that enjoy minimalist travel lodges, but if you love something personal, with great service and a beautiful setting Newbegin House is for you. It was our second visit and it did not disappoint. The welcome is warm and the room was full of character with great views to the walled garden. The location is central but quiet, only a minutes walk into the centre of Beverley.
The breakfast was worth the stay on its own! Everything was locally sourced and of high quality and lots to choose from. We will definitely be going back to visit.

Walter was most helpful, from directions for finding the place without overshooting on a one way street, to help up the stairs with our luggage, to places to see and pubs (Nellies was great) and restaurants. Newbegin is so centrally located, just a brief walk through an alley to the market square, but no noticeable traffic noise. It is lovely old mansion with furniture and fittings to match. We stayed in the Iveson Room which was very large, and with a large bathroom. The only fault was that there was no over bath shower or shower cubicle. Breakfast was plentiful and of excellent quality. A very pleasant stay.

This is a fine place to stay, quiet but very near the centre of town, with good parking facilities. The hosts, Walter and Nuala, were very welcoming, attentive and generous, helping with luggage, providing refreshment on arrival, and advising on places to see, local restaurants etc. The house is full of character, and the rooms very comfortable, with tea/coffee making facilities and other treats in the fridge. We greatly enjoyed the breakfasts, fresh fruit, lovely bread, speciality sausages and as much as we could eat, and more! Highly recommended.

We were warmly welcomed by Walter, who helped us with our luggage and then treated us to tea and homemade cake. The house itself has a long and fascinating history which is well documented. The room was spacious, well appointed and with a very comfortable bed. Breakfast was excellent.

We were recommended this B&B by my aunt who lives in Beverley and we viewed their website and called Mr Sweeney. Very helpful man who wrote and confirmed our stay for the period 4 - 6 May. We stayed in the Appleton Room which was very comfortably appointed with some very nice touches (nice bed linen and nice shower etc). The breakfast was excellent and I am still shedding the pounds but you can go for the lighter fayre only. I can throughly recommend a stay here as some of the pubs that offer B&B in Beverley looked very poor by comparison to this beautiful house. We forgot an electric toothbrush but this was kindly despatched upon request by Mr Sweeney.
