Owner description: A visit to Beverley Racecourse is a seriously good day out, a fact that the people of Beverley have been quite rightly proud of for over 300 years. Set in the stunning surroundings of The Westwood, the racecourse hosts horse racing between April and September every year. We have 19 race meetings in total, 11 of which feature extra entertainment and fun, from the family-themed May Day with a petting zoo and funfair rides to the glamour of Ladies' Day. For the racing fan, our Very British Raceday in June with its two feature races for the country's best two-year-old horses sees them battle it out in a fast and furious contest up our infamous uphill 5 furlong sprint (a furlong being about 660 feet for the as-yet uninititated.) There's always a warm welcome at Beverley, and whether you prefer to bring the family with a picnic and a rug or your friends for an afternoon of fun and catching up, you'll find lots of like-minded people enjoying the day and the excitement of watching your horse thundering home. Tickets in advance are much the cheapest way to visit and can be bought via our website, along with lots more information about all of our racedays. Let us show you how much fun an afternoon at the races can be! 2017 Fixtures At A Glance Weds 19 April The White Rabbit in Easterland Raceday Thurs 27 April Afternoon Racing Mon 01 May May Day Raceday Tues 16 May Afternoon Racing Wed 31 May Half Term Raceday Sat 10 June A Very British Raceday Tues 20 June 70s Racenight Feat: Bus Stop Tues 27 June Afternoon Racing Fri 07 July Party on the Pasture Racenight Sat 08 July The Big Saturday Raceday Tues 18 July Afternoon Racing Mon 24 July Carnival Racenight Tues 01 Aug Roll Up, Roll Up Raceday Weds 16 Aug Flemingate Ladies' Day Thurs 17 Aug Afternoon Racing Feat: The Camel Derby Sun 27 Aug A Sunday Hop Sat 02 Sep Totepool Beverley Bullet Raceday Weds 20 Sept Afternoon Racing Tues 26 Sept Season Closer

Spent a very pleasant afternoon especially as we had 4 winners between us. However very few seats at ground level and lots of steps up to the stand (we were in the paddock) I managed to get up to the stand but found the seats very uncomfortable. The course itself is very nice and kept very tidy especially round the parade ring. Didn't have any food but purchased a very weak coffee. Notice that some people took a picnic but security were at the entrance (which again has lots of steep steps) and checking that no one took in either food or drink. I did notice one or two people in wheelchairs but I don't know how they got in. Security watched me struggle with steps to entrance and made no effort to show me an alternative route despite my husband expressing his disgust. I notice no replies to these posts are ever made by the racecourse. Reasonable discount for OAPs on production of proof of age.

Hello - we're sorry to be late in replying to your review but we hoped you might pick this up. We're very sorry to hear you felt the racecourse was unsuitable for disabled visitors. Since your review, we have revisited our accessibility which answers a lot of your concerns, and you can find a full guide on our website. However if there is anything you feel we could do better for our disabled visitors, please do let us know as we are always striving to improve the experience.

With regards to the picnics, it is no problem at all to take food and drink into the Course Enclosure.

Hope this helps and thanks for the feedback!

Visited the racecourse for Beverley folk festival,on receipt of a site plan before the event first impressions were very good but it went down hill from there. Some of the bars were not even open, ones that were actually ran out of real ale on Sat night and then at 11pm they locked the main building thus rendering all indoor fascilities useless at an event open till 2 am

Hello, thank you for your review. We're disappointed to hear that you weren't completely impressed with your recent visit, however we do feel it's important to point out that your visit was to the Folk Festival, which is an external event that comes in and uses the Racecourse's facilities. Therefore no decision as to which bars to open and when, and indeed the quantity of beer ordered, lies with the racecourse, and therefore this does not accurately review Beverley Racecourse itself. We do hope you decide to come back and experience a day out at the races, which is after all what we do best!

Attended a mid week meeting here on 14 May. Spent a delightful afternoon in the Attractions restaurant. We enjoyed good food and wine with excellent waitress service and even an excellent cream tea later in the day. From the restaurant you can watch the races from the balcony and place your bets at the tote if you do not want to venture far. The course itself is well laid out very welcoming and offers something for everyone depending what you want to pay.
