After reading many reviews on The Falling Stone we decided to pay a visit. Its in a great location, a quiet rural country village, the only downside to this is the one who has drawn the short straw and now holds the car keys!

The staff were both very friendly and helpful, a good choice of dishes, not too many as to hinder you in choosing your perfect meal. There was also a good wine selection to accompany your food.

Food arrived and it was lovely, the Lamb Chops are sourced locally and were cooked to perfection....delicious!

The place had a great feel to it, very warm and welcoming and try as we might, could not find a cob web in sight!

Definitely coming back although i think it will be my turn to drive this time...never mind!

Having read such great reviews we were really looking forward to the evening, this soon changed when we felt as though we were intruding and kept waiting at the bar although there were no other people waiting to be served just the barman continuing to do whatever it was that was more important than us. Trying to make small talk with him was ignored, there was no interest in us at all.The waitress seemed to be on automatic pilot, why would we want a wine list when we had a bottle in front of us!! The service was very efficient and food good although distinct lack of vegetables. When asked if the dessert was enjoyed and told no the waitress didn't follow this up with anyone in the kitchen, as we were sat very near to the door could hear that the plates were put straight down and she headed straight back to the dining room. On paying the bill we were still charged for a sweet that was left and again the barman made no comments on how we had enjoyed our evening. We will not be rushing back here.

The staff were fantastic, we loved the food and the Stilton and mushroom sauce was a perfect accompaniment to our main meal.

The place was warm and welcoming with a wonderful atmosphere.

A great experience all round.

I have visited the Falling Stone twice now with my fiancee and with a group of friends. Each time the food has been exceptional- my personal recommendation is the creme brulee. The staff are friendly and helpful and the owner makes us feel really welcome. He clearly has a good knowledge of food and wines and his recommendations are worth listening to.

When we visit the area we stay in the nearby village of Rudston, and last time we had a bad experience with the taxi firm we had used, as they tried to make us pay £25 for a 5 minute journey. When the owner found out what had happened, he insisted on driving us home himself. This is just one example of how the staff at the Falling Stone continually (and in this case literally) go the 'extra mile' for you.

We had heard about the falling stone from a friend of ours, it's a small boutique style gastro pub in the tiny little village of thwing, about 6 miles from Bridlington.

We first visited this pub in November last year and have been going regularly ever since.

The food is fantastic, a great example of the English gastro pub niche, in a charming and warming setting, but it is not just the food that has compelled me to write this review, on two separate occasions our service has been truly exceptional, far and away beyond the call of duty.
It has turned 'a meal' into 'an evening' , and 'a night out' into an event to be remembered.

thanks guys
