Wanted to find a new place to go for Sunday Roast and went for the first time to The Falling Stone at Thwing. The food was great and the service was good too. Our glasses were dirty on the table but the staff made sure they changed them asap even after I know will have been a hard Easter Sunday. Good surroundings. Will go again.

Tired pub entrance and bar disguise the great meal experience you will have.
Welcoming , knowledgeable staff who immediately make you feel special.
Good wine, real ale selection.
Fine dining with attractive dining area and decor.
We enjoyed the good food especially the roast dinner with a great gravy- not easy to do well.
Give it a try - you will be pleased.

What a gem! We attended on a quiet Saturday night but we didn't let that put us off as we had read some excellent reviews on here. We we're met by James who proved to be an excellent host with plenty of local knowledge and experience in the business, drinks were poured and menus were shown. James talked us through the menus including the specials and we just about came to a decision! Despite being of a conservative size the menu offered plenty of choice and variation depending on your tastes and preference. I chose the Plaice and my partner chose the duck and shortly after being shown to our table in the immaculate dining room we were brought our food. In a word? Sensational. The fish was cooked to perfection in terms of taste and texture and the duck was likewise. Tastes and flavours were excellent and to top it all presentation was top notch! Also as an added bonus a pint of peroni was a mere £3.30 compared to £4+ elsewhere!

Puddings were also excellent although somewhat overshadowed by the standard of mains and the service was faultless (although it was quiet!) but on the whole I would highly recommend the falling stone. Price wise the bill was easily swallowed given the standard of food and our bill totalled £46.70 for 2 mains 2 deserts and a few drinks. So go the extra mile this weekend and give them a try!!

We were staying in a local b&b and were recommended this pub/restaurant. Excellent food and service so we returned for the second evening of our stay. Great value for money, imaginative menu. Steak was brilliant!
Well done!
