“Friendly, village pub with cracking food”
Reviewed August 29, 2012

Not sure what to expect after we were recommended this pub by the Wold Cottage - but met with a friendly welcome and enjoyed a pint of Wold Gold. We could just imagine how cosy this place would be in the depths of winter!! Tuesday night was "Jammin'" night which our 4 yr old enjoyed especially the double bass. Food was locally sourced and tasted good and a relief to see something on the kids menu that didn't have chips (by the way, the little one had roast chicken - a favourite of hers) Felt that the price was pushing at the top end of what i would comfortably pay but on the plus side there was plenty of it

“Warm Welcome, Fantastic Staff & Yummy reasonable food!!!”
Reviewed August 29, 2012

Visited here on Saturday 25th August as a group of 4. We were recommended this pub and we were not let down. Warm welcome at the bar, were we sat and had a drink and got handed the menu. The owner/staff are incredibly pleasant and nothing is too much trouble they have fantastic sense of humours. The restaurant is lovely! I had brie for starters and lamb steaks with spinach for main (best lamb steaks I have ever had!) followed by the falling stone cheeseboard. I could not fault any of it. Cannot wait to return and would thoroughly recommend to all!!

“Lovely meal in the heart of the Yorkshire Wolds”
Reviewed August 27, 2012

Set in the heart of the Yorkshire Wolds step back in time to village life in the idyllic village of Thwing - just off the main York to Bridlington Road. A warm welcome always awaits for you from mine host. Enjoy a pre-dinner drink in the cosy bar before enlightening upon a hearty, homecooked meal. An extensive menu with specials available along with a wide variety of coffees to choose from and relax after a substantial meal served by excellent waiting staff providing service with a smile! Ample car parking. Will return as we always do - can recommend this for a lovely evening out.

“A delicious time”
Reviewed August 12, 2012

A small village pub with a restaurant. The food (I had the asparagus with poached egg starter, the chicken and black pudding and fudge brownie pie) was locally sourced, fresh and delicious. Although the restaurant was quiet the night we went, the atmosphere was lovely, the staff attentive fun and unhurried, and we had a lovely evening. Well worth a visit.
