The Burton Art Gallery in Victoria Park, Bideford, has become a real treasure. The mixed media work by Michael Brennand Wood was beautiful and thought-provoking. This is typical of the exhibits presented at the Gallery.
Upstairs local history is featured. We spent quite a while reading through the binder on WWII in Bideford which was where many children from London and the north were evacuated during the blitz. Although I grew up at the time and was in school with many of the children, I learned a lot from the binders and displays. The Cafe du Parc which is attached to the Burton is a great place for lunch.
