“Nice old pub”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 21, 2014

Nice old pub, cosy feel, friendly and good ale. Is recommended in the good pub guide. Has an outdoor space/tables for sunny days but we enjoyed the fire and comfort inside.

“Fantastic”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 11, 2014 via mobile

The restaurant on our complex is being refurbished so we asked for a local pub and we were sent here. Ok the drive there in the dark was a little tricky but OMG was it worth it. If your looking for a place to eat that is what everyone thinks of when you have a vision of an English pub in your head this is it !!!
Great welcome and a quick glance at other peoples meals (every one does it) showed us that we had made the right choice.
We both chose off the specials board, cod for H and chicken in a white wine and leek sauce for me. Stunning just stunning pub grub. Loads of sautéed potatoes and veggies to compliment. Only problem was I had to drive so only one Guinness ( not my turn next time).
Noticed that it has a trip advisor award from 2013 can't see any reason why that shouldn't be the same for 2014.

14 ladies came for evening dinner on the first night of our arrival at a near by Spa/cottage complex. Lovely food, good atmosphere, very friendly and made to feel most welcome by staff and locals.

“Customer relations”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 8, 2014

We decided to celebrate our wedding anniversary at this pub on Sat 8th March, so booked a table at the beginning of the week. We were looking forward to our meal. On arrival we ordered our drinks and mentioned our reservation to the landlord, he advised he had no record of us and proceeded to quiz us – were we sure we had rung them and not somewhere else? who had we spoken to? was it a man or a lady? He didn’t seem to believe us, ‘o well, he said you are here now’ , he gave us some menus and explained where to sit. Half an hour later, with our drinks almost finished and no sight of any waitress, it was obvious, we weren’t to be served any time soon – so we left. Thanks for ruining our anniversary, we won’t be returning.
Anyone can make a mistake, we completely understand that, however, at least have the grace to apologise to a customer and not make them feel unwelcome.

“So VERY Good!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 1, 2014

Just away on a short Devon break and The Coach and Horses was recommended to us. So glad we took up the recommendation - absolutely brilliant from start to finish. Fabulous food, fabulous and genuinely friendly staff, lovely, unpretentious surroundings AND reasonably-priced. A perfect combination that not only made our evening but also made our short break away.

Nothing more to say, other than memories are made of experiences like this - fabulously out of the way - please don't change a thing until we return in the near future!
