Good place to rest up and get a drink or two and a nice pub meal. We did find that the prices were a little bit high for what you get, but we all know food prices have risen over the last year or two.

called in for lunch today with a friend and both had ploughmans, one ham and one cheese. Cost £8.25 each so not cheap. the ham one had half a slice of ham on it, very tight indeed. the cheese one is advertised as "5 cheese ploughmans" but what you actually get is one slice of that layered cheese that has 5 different sorts in one, which is just a cheap cheese you get from any supermarket and all tastes the same. what a ripoff for that money. and what a shame to serve up cheap mass produced cheese when we have beautiful local cheeses produced on our doorstep. we are local to the area but won't be eating there again.

We use this pub with friends, and usually just have a drink or two. The pub is lovely, with really nice friendly efficient staff, and landlord. We ate here and were disappointed on several counts. The whitebait starters were small, and came with no dressing on the salad and no bread. The risotto wasn't very tasty, and the steak was full of gristle and sinew. The burger was really nice and the chips were good. Overall we were expecting better, but would eat here again and try other dishes on the menu, which is quite extensive, and there is a regularly changed specials board. Good prices, and a nice atmosphere, where you are always made to feel very welcome.

Friendly staff, good range of food in interesting, really old inn.
It was slightly difficult to find this pub as it is not in the main street.
We noticed there is also a nice outdoor area which is partly covered in case it rains.

Whilst on holiday in Bideford we were recommended this doggie friendly pub by the owner of our accommodation. We booked a day or so in advance to celebrate a family birthday, and they were absolutely fine with us bringing our 2 dogs. We were a large party of 9, including a young baby and the staff were very friendly and accommodating, even allowed our dogs to lie on the floor in the restaurant area while we ate (we had a separate area of the restaurant all to ourselves which was lovely!) The menu was extensive and the food excellent, large portions of good quality food that was reasonably priced. If we lived nearer we would visit often!
