“Yet another excellent stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 16, 2013

We found the hotel by good fortune and enjoyed our stay so much that we booked in for a second time. The latest visit was as superb as the first. The room was spacious, well appointed and clean. The staff were welcoming with a can do attitude with every request met in a positive manner and a smile. The hotel restaurants were excellent (and when combined with a half board tariff very good value). My wife and daughter are regular visitors to Champneys' spas and found the SenSpa spa to be of a comparable standard, if not better. We will be booking again; so should you if you would like some indulgence in a beautiful part of the New Forest.

Room Tip: Rooms in the main hotel have more character. The rooms in the newer building are more modern. Both...

My Husband and I spent five amazingly days on our honeymoon at this hotel. The location was perfect as we both love the outdoors and everyday we found something different to do. The hotel was stunning and staff could not do enough for you. Our room was in the main building and had a stunning four poster bed. The three restaurants were all amazing and our last meal in the careys restaurant made a perfect finish to the perfect week. The food was creative and delicious , fine dinning at its best! The spa was an added bonus and gives this hotel that extra added luxury to an already beautiful Hotel. We Could not fault this hotel , its staff or facilities in anyway. We will certainly be booking to go back for our 1st Anniversary.

Room Tip: We stayed in one of their four poster rooms which was elegant, although not huge but the bed was stu...

Good points: The rooms are large, clean, quiet and comfortable. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Great location, nice setting. Nice garden area. Nice pool area with small steam/sauna room (we didnt pay the extra for the rest of the spa so cannot comment, but it looked nice from the outside).

Poor points: Paying £456 for just a 2 night stay, room only, I would have expected more than 'nice'. Our room was large (bathroom average size), but it lacked the extra touches you'd expect for this high price – no fridge/mini bar, there is freeview TV but no phone or tablet dock (as is becoming common in even many lower star hotels) and the Wifi, when it would connect, was so slow we gave up after trying to use 3 separate devices during our stay. Some of the fittings are poor quality, for example cheap looking melamine wardrobes that are also quite impractical as the doors slide open and cover the suitcase unloading area.

And...£18 per person for breakfast is more than many 5* hotels charge in London.

Summary: Don’t get me wrong, the hotel is very pleasant and comfortable, but when I pay these kind of prices I expect more than just a large room. We have stayed in other New Forest area hotels that offer a similar standard but at a much lower price.

Came back for a much needed relaxing week of good food, great surroundings, gentle pampering and a chance to watch the world go by! Had a big ground floor room opening onto the lawns and with loads of afternoon sun. Over the weekend there were three weddings which provided much visual interest in the bar before dinner! However, there was virtually no noise to disturb the rest of the guests and they all gave a jovial sense to the evenings. The staff as ever were helpful, friendly and attentive and the crew in the Manor Retaurant could not be faulted. (Many thanks Anna for looking after us both). We ventured into Le Blaireau restaurant during our stay for a little variety and enjoyed their food just as much. The wine list in Le Blaireau should maybe be added into the wine list in the Manor Restaurant to add a greater choice but then Le Blaireau does have a unique French flavour. Great relaxing fun - highly recomended !

Room Tip: Garden rooms are best!

Came here just for afternoon tea. Paid just £17.95 for a delicious spread of tasty sandwiches and lovely cakes. More than enough for any appetite! Friendly and helpful staff. All in all, top notch. The tea room slightly lacks atmosphere but we were a large group so this didn't matter.

My wife and I were very impressed and happy with our stay at your hotel. Most impressive of all were the staff, their cheerfulness was an unusual pleasure. I used the spa and had a very professional massage in the late afternoon from Katie.

We had lunch in the French restaurant and dinner in the Manor. I would say the food in the former was best but it was nice to dress up for dinner in the Manor. The service in both was first class.

Our 4 poster room was exactly what I had hoped for and we had a very good night's sleep. Breakfast in the room again was spot on.

There were a few negatives which wouldn't deter me from returning. The décor in the Manor restaurant seems rather brown and tired and the staff began setting up for breakfast while we were still at the table.

One suggestion would be to use the roof outside room 5 as a facility for sitting down for a drink on a nice day?

In summary an excellent hotel, good value package, lovely staff we will definitely be back.
