A great week was had by all eight of us, from our 6 year old to 94 year old grandparent (the ground floor bedroom with toilet and walk-in shower just opposite was ideal). A lovely house, very clean and well-equipped, and in a brilliant location, a short walk from Brockenhurst train station, the village and the forest, with ponies regularly wandering past. It was great to be able to cycle so far on traffic-free routes, starting from the path by the primary school opposite the bottom of the road. The small, free-admission Reptile Centre is worth a visit, particularly for children, and makes a good cycle ride. A short train ride/drive away, Lymington salt marshes and outdoor water park also make a great day out.
Five of us had a fabulous pre season stay at Hathersage Cottage The bedrooms are all very comfortable and quiet. The house is spacious and very tastefully decorated but still feels very welcoming and cosy. The kitchen has the "wow factor", with bifold doors that open into the private garden, perfect for drinks and a meal on the patio. Brockenhurst, with its high street and variety of pubs is a few minutes stroll away, and a path leading into the beautiful New Forest is at the end of the road. We hope it was the first of many visits!
