Owner description: Bude Sea Pool is a part-natural, partially man-made tidal swimming pool on the beach at this popular seaside town in North Cornwall. It was built in the 1930s under the cliffs of Summerleaze Beach to provide safe bathing in sea water, but away from the dangerous Atlantic currents in the bay. Measuring around 91m by 45m, it is topped up at high tide by the Atlantic Ocean. Since 2012 it is managed by the Friends of Bude Sea Pool, a not-for-profit charity that took over the facility when public funding was withdrawn. The spacious Pool provides plenty of room for paddling or serious swimming: inflatables, snorkels, surfboards and even scuba divers are welcome - just be considerate of other users, please. Bude Sea Pool is open throughout the year and is FREE for all to enjoy. Lifeguards are on duty at peak times. Children must be accompanied at Bude Sea Pool at all times.

This wonderful pool brought back memories of a sea pool of my childhood where I splashed around for many happy hours.

At the bottom of the cliff, it is easy to access via railed steps and the pool is quite large. There's a life guard at the top whom you pass on the way down.

It's amazing to see its changing faces as the ocean breathes life into it. Safe for all to swim in during the day and then of an evening when the weather turns and the waves crash into it, it still makes you want to just jump in, but clearly that would be unwise!

It has an enigmatic aura and must be protected as its a real treasure.

Great asset to Bude, safe bathing for children (and adults.) Very beautiful and natural. If you are in Bude use it and enjoy. Not many of this sort of thing in the country and should be treasured and supported.

this is one of the few remaining sea pools in the UK and deserves plenty of support to keep it going, right on the beach and a large pool. Regularly used by local school children an iconic feature of Bude

It was so relaxing swimming in this vast infinity pool. Sea water is so much more refreshing and healthy than the dreadful smell of chlorine which sticks to you for ages afterwards! Well done to all the guys who have worked so hard to achieve their goal to keep the pool going!
