This was the second year that we stayed here, both times in an Ocean View bungalow. Everything is well run and we enjoyed occasional drinks and meals in the restaurant - very acceptable.
It is an ideal starting-off point for visiting many of the area's attractions.
On arrival, the television would not work so we asked the owner to come and have a look. he tried many things, including changing cables and receiver boxes, etc, but still no TV. He fetched us one from an adjacent property and this worked adequately. He promised that he would get us a brand new set within a couple of days and he did just that. Very nice to have someone keep a promise!
The kitchen is fully equipped for a self-catering holiday but, this year, we had all our meals out.
We would certainly consider going here again another year as it is in a very nice part of the country and the cost in September is very acceptable.

Room Tip: Ocean View bungalows are more expensive but are very quiet with views of the beach and sea and some...

Just got back from a weeks stay at the above. We stayed in chalet number 17. This is privately owned and does NOT represent the ones rented out by village itself. In view of this my comments and ratings are for the complex and facilities itself rather than the chalet as I have emailed the owners privately about this.

Firstly I am 42yrs my wife is 44yrs and we have a 10 yr old daughter.

What a pleasant surprise. The complex is situated on a hill overlooking Widemouth Bay and what a stunning view you get from it. The complex is privately owned and the owners who we met were lovely approachable people. They work very hard to make sure peoples stay here is a great one. The complex was clean and the facilities are what you would expect to be in 2013. The pool was lovely for our daughter and the bar was clean and VERY reasonably priced. The bar had sky sports and our daughter loved the games room.
We only had food one night and it was fresh and well cooked.

The entertainment at night was also a pleasant surprise. The entertainer was fab. His professionalism showed and he was great. He was lovely with the kids and deserves a mention on here.

This is a great site to be used as a base. We used the facilities generally in the evening after we had visited the nearby beaches and towns.

Overall an excellent site. CHEERS.

I am sorry that Alan B from Leeds felt it necessary to write a poor review on our site, but do need to clarify a few points.
We have no record of this chap staying with us, so can only assume he was in a privately owned chalet not included in our letting accommodation so is not a fair representation of what we do or the standard of the chalets we let to our guests.
We have no manager on site, so I assume he means myself - I own the site with my wife and our son, and we work very hard to maintain a high standard. We do indeed take positive criticism and take on board positive suggestions, but it is hard to ignore some of the more ridiculous suggestions from a small number of people.
Our pool had extensive work done over the winter and we are pleased to say the temperature has stabilized between 28 and 30 degrees all season - not bad for a pool that is not advertised as heated! Many of our guests have commented this year how nice the pool is.
The "pitch and putt" golf course is just a bit of fun for the kids, and is a free activity. We lend the golf clubs out, and give golf balls away, many of which do not get returned as they are launched into next doors fields etc and we really don't mind - the Belfry are not exactly worried about us.
We have a kiddies slide, and I am sorry it was not "slidy" enough, but we have never had a complaint about it before - there is only so much you can do with a sheet of stainless steel, and has not ruined anyone else s holiday.
Again, Elvis and Bingo, along with quiz and drag nights, are just a bit of family fun - nothing serious, but beats sitting in and watching the telly!

Stayed here as were looking for the specific area to stay.
The facilities were great, clean and very reasonable for this time of year.
We found the owners very friendly and welcoming and great fun(thanks Ian & Deana!)
Would certainly recommend to our friends and would go again.
Would be great for younger families also although our lot are teenagers.
Felt it was only right to rate this especially as we saw one previous which was surely unfair!

Would not stay here again, the first time there were animal droppings in the kitchen and on the table, made the mistake several years after to return assuming it would be ok, we were sharing the chalet with ants, management sorted it by a trail of ant powder all over the kitchen, needless to stay we never ate there.
As for the bed, it was extremely hard, that's just personal preference, but I was bitten, there were two tiny holes in my stomach ,enough for there to be blood and I wore a nightie.

Try sunrise B&B, I was there previous , although it works out more expensive it is deffinately worth it.

I am sorry this lady felt the need to give us a negative review. I am afraid the "animal droppings" incident was years ago and before we owned the site.
Several years later we have worked very hard to improve the quality of our site, but as we said at the time we are set in 13 acres of countryside, so yes, the odd spider / fly / ant manages to get in!! We dealt with the few ants immediately, and no other complaint or comment regarding this or any other issue was brought to our attention.
We always aim to please our customers and are always happy to correspond with them personally to resolve any issues, rather than find out later through a review site where it is usually too late to do anything about it.
