Brendon Arms is a family run Inn. En-suite rooms above a restaurant. Locals were evident which shows the food must be good. We stayed 3 nights and each night thoroughly enjoyed our meal and stay. There is a steep staircase to rooms which may not suit elderly. It is advisable to book evening meals due to the local popularity of the restaurant.

Room Tip: Steep staircase therefore not for infirm

Well, let's start with the location. We stayed in flat 4 which unfortunately basically means you are staying in the pub car park. 1st night was a wedding, so at 2 am we were still kept awake with the music from the pub & rowdy revellers returning to their cars.
Then the Monday & Tuesday, no lie in as they were resurfacing the carpark with heavy plant equipment.
So yes granted these are exceptions, if I'd expected to be staying in a pub car park id expect the noise.
The flats are very very small, although sold on sleeping 2-4 it's really 2. Storage is limited so you have to keep your clothes in kitchen cupboards.
A few more bits would be nice e.g washing machine.
We had a few boiler issues but these were resolved instantly and without fuss.
The location within bude is superb walking distance to the beach, town and superb restaurant of bude. The canal is also great for fishing.

I would recommend again but for a couple without much stuff and don't stay in the front flats, the back 2 are much better

Never been to a pub with gaming tables before!

This place was great. Card games and other stuff going on in the bar and a footie match on the telly. But not too loud though, not in your face. Plenty busy with lots of laughter and that can't be a bad thing. Great bar friendly staff and a fine pint of St Austell beer.

The food is excellent value and really rather good with a large varied menu.
The accomodation was clean and comfortable and we had a fine breakfast.

All in all, I think this is a very well run establishment. I would definately return.

We stayed at The Brendon Arms mid March 2012 and found the room was clean and spacious, with a good sized en-suite. The service was great, although as it was out of season and there was only 2 or 3 rooms being used at the time, you would expect good service. The bar and restaurant had an excellent athmosphere and we felt quite comfortable during our stay. The food was good as well, although you should book early for an evening meal. The location was just about as good as it gets. Situated in the heart of Bude overlooking the cannal and within a 5 minute walk to to both the beach and the town centre. We would deffinitely book again.

Just had a four night break. Very comfortable stay. Room had added extras of hairdryer plus standard drink making facilities, towels, mini toileteries. Although rooms over the bar heard very little noise from below.

If you want an evening meal, it is recommended to book a table in the lounge bar, as it was quite busy during our stay, meals though can also be eaten in the main bar. Had some good meals.

Before staying had read a report saying place was cold, room had thermostats on the radiators, adjusted these in the bedroom and bathroom to give a comfortable room temperature

Very clean accommodation. Friendly staff.

Convenient location, few minutes walk to the sea/beach, 5- 10 minutes walk into the small town. Tourist board is just opposite, on the far side of the canal. If you like walking there is the option of a stroll along the canal or cliff walk to take in the views (unfortunately it was foggy for much of our stay, this was reported to be unusual)

Room Tip: If you like a good shower choose Wild Pigeon, nice shower cabinet, shower itself quite powerful(pump...

We stayed here in a good quality self-catering cottage. We had a good stay but the experience was entirely ruined by the management. In line with others on Trip Advisor we found they must be struggling to manage turn around and blaming customers. After 7 days at premium Xmas rates we handed the key in at 10:55 instead of 10:30, but no-one was loitering trying to start cleaning. We didn't consider this at great worry. Getting kids and everything in car, doing washing up etc overran slightly.

During our stay a heavy brass plate sign hung from a ceiling beam (>8ft) in the dining room fell, luckily whilst no-one was in the room. This could have caused serious damage, especially to children. These things happen and not being litigious we let it pass as one of this things.

We were astonished to receive a ranting ill considered letter in an appalling tone demanding additional payments, including for the sign hazard that it was alleged we had broken and late departure. All the alleged damage was entirely false.

Therefore despite some good locations, I'd advise people to avoid the Brendon Arms and its properties due to appalling customer service and hostile attitudes. There is a lot of choice in Bude so no need to suffer. There is the quoted price and whatever rambling aggressive fees are added by post after your stay.

We stayed at the Brendon Arms for the last 2 days of our weeks holiday, which turned out to be a perfect ending. Ample free parking, pretty frontal in a very nice location in Bude.
The staff were friendly polite and very helpful, our room was inviting and spotlessly clean, as was the Brendon Arms throughout.
On arrival we booked a table for our evening meal, which was a wise move as the dinning area was full, but even so the whole place ran like clockwork and I was surprised how quickly our meal was served, the meal was so good we booked a table for the next evening before leaving. All this rounded off with a lovely full English each morning.
Loved the place so much I brought the keys home with me... whooops, making arrangements for their return.
Would like to thank all the staff at the Brendon arms, from management to cleaners for making our stay an enjoyable one, Could not have asked for more Thank you all.
