We were walking the Rob Roy Way and stayed and ate at Callander's Poppies Hotel.
The room was well appointed, spacious and comfortable. The food was excellent as was the dram with which we rounded off our meal. We'd unhesitatingly recommend this excellent hotel, restaurant and bar.

We were here for our mothers 65th birthday. We ate in the restaurant on the Friday night and the food was impeccable. I had the mussels and chicken breast. The carrots were cooked in honey and had a lovely sweet taste. Best carrots I have ever had. The mussels and chicken were cooked to perfection. The wines were lovely. The breakfast was delicious. The owners made us feel very welcome and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Will definitely be back. The hotel was clean and will recommend to others.

My husband and I wanted somewhere nice to stay that wasn't too far from home for a wee weekend to celebrate out wedding anniversary.
Lucked out and chose this wee gem. Spotless, comfortable room with lovely touches. The dinner menu was excellent and the food was absolutely delicious and the other half really enjoyed the extensive whiskey selection, I think he could have stayed in the bar all night!!
Would absolutely recommend and hope to stay again if we are in the area again.
Fantastic value and excellent service, made to feel very welcome and comfortable.

We stayed 19-21Feb 14 -Warmly welcomed by Susan and John
the owners. The hotel is lovely, the bar has an extensive range. The room was spacious, very comfy and all the extras made our stay special. The meals were great, also has a great veggie menu, fabulous choice especially the puddings! Callender is a great base for exploring the area. It was a peaceful and restful few days. If you want the best in Callender forget the rest.

Stayed Saturday and Sunday night and arrived early afternoon not expecting to check in as we were an hour early but hoping to get some info on things to do. We were greeted with a warm friendly welcome & told our room was ready if we wanted to check in. The process was swift and we were also given some helpful local information - visit the church in town as the array of local info is great if your original plans need to be amended due to weather! Can't have it all :-)
Plus points:
Our room was spotlessly clean with delightful views (once the weather cleared!) nice little touches like chocolates, delicious shortbread and toiletries to add to your comfort. Nothing was too much trouble not that we asked for much, extra coffee mostly but anything was always met with a friendly 'of course, no problem' Excellent breakfast with friendly efficient service & fabulous quality produce. Delightful little bar, limited stick on draft as expected but and excellent choice of wine and of course a whiskey lovers paradise as per the website!

Negatives:
Very few to be honest, out room was smaller than expected and the bathroom was very limited on space but equipped with a shower, toilet & sink so fully functional and clean. Just missing a bath which for me as a bath lover was a downside. I am also quite a picky eater so did not feel the restaurant menu was that varied to my taste & a little pricey for some items but I think for less picky eaters the selection would be ample! Lots of things to enjoy close by but a lot of things were closed during out visit in think it was a little out of season for some things like Blair Drummond, some events at Falkirk Wheel etc but just check in advance to save any disappointment. if like us you wanted a pony trek the closest one is closed on a Saturday which I thought was unusual as this was not a seasonal closure.

Overall a lovely stay, with beautiful gardens and delightful hosts.

Just spent a weekend at this hotel. It is a lovely hotel with a personal feel to it. Felt slightly let down that our room was nothing like those in the pictures and instead was much smaller with a disappointing bathroom. Despite this the room cost the same as the other rooms.
Food was pretty good.

Room Tip: clarify with staff which room you would be getting before booking
