“Lots and Lots of Toys”
Reviewed May 31, 2014

We spent a short time in the museum which has a very large collection of every toy known. Felt that it was a little too packed in to appreciate some of the items, but understand that space is a consideration. You will probably see toys that will bring back happy childhood memories.

“"Blast from the past, a must see"”
Reviewed April 29, 2014

While staying in Aberfoyle a couple of days we nipped in to this Toy Museum on the way to our Hotel well worth your time popping in for a look. I suddenly got swept up in nostalgia. I could go on and on and on about this place, you won't be dissapointed and well worth the £3 to look round. There is so much too look at and the years of collecting these toys is evident in the displays, every inch of the shop is filled with decades of toy history.

“Magnificent nostalgia”
Reviewed April 13, 2014

I must have driven past this inauspicious little shop a hundred times or more, over the years. It's unassuming shop front hides away in the quiet end of Callander's Main Street, almost hidden by a perception filter, just waiting to show itself to you when it feels you are ready. This week, apparently, I was finally ready. "Look - a toy museum! Was that there before? Let's take a look.." Actually, it's been there all along, although the collection started even longer ago. Through the door, you find yourself in a proper old fashioned toy shop, brimming with old fashioned vintage toys of all sorts. You are immediately in the 1970's surrounded by Thunderbirds puppets and Raleigh Choppers, all of which are for sale, and all of which, actually, are nowhere near as expensive as you would think they would be. "2 for the museum, please," we say to Mr Hamilton who enthusiastically greets us with a cheerful eccentricity, and as he takes our £3 each to get in (£3!!! Really? That is NOTHING for the trip we are buying from him!!), he gives us our brief verbal guide - "Beatles in the corner, soldiers through the back on the ground floor, up the stairs to four more rooms - boys at the back, girls at the front, although please excuse us - they're a bit mixed up in places We have so many, you see..." - before leaving us to make our own way round at our own pace. The collection itself is just fantastic. There are no video games - just proper toys, mostly from the 80's backwards, when children used toys to spark and illustrate their imaginations. Soldiers, dolls, trains, planes, automobiles, and so on, and - my favourite a room crammed unfeasibly full of Dr Who, Man From UNCLE, Batman, and - most of all - Gerry Anderson toys. I had some of these. I wanted the rest! Thunderbirds, Stingray, Fireball XL5, Supercar, Captain Scarlet, Joe 90 - all there. This is a fabulous place. Take an hour out of your journey to the Highlands, and stop here. It will be the best £3 (£1 for children!!) that you will ever spend. On the way out, Mr Hamilton asks us "did we enjoy the collection?" "Of course," we tell him. "How could we not?" He is visibly pleased, although he has no reason to be surprised, as he tells us that in 20 years, only 3 visitors have expressed any sort of vague disappointment. I told him that I was amazed that there were even three! They must have had no childhoods.

Came across this today while visiting Callander for the day,
Wasn't too sure what to expect but I was actually very surprised, it was very Interesting and even our 6 year old loved it.
After speaking to the owner she told us the family had been collecting the toys for over 70 years!!
It's well worth a visit.
It's £3 admission for adults
£1 for kids
It took us around 30-40 minutes to walk round all the rooms so it was well worth it.
