Booked my husband and I a wee overnighter at the Highland House Hotel...paid £65 for a Double room and private bathroom. When we arrived Tony showed us to our bedroom, he told us there was a sink in the bedroom, but we weren't to turn on the taps, as they weren't working. And, across the landing was our "private bathroom"!!! So, everytime we needed the "loo" or wanted to fill up our kettle we had to nip across the landing...not ideal eh? Also, there were tea making facilities in all rooms. On the tray were two teabags and two coffee sachets, so please remember to take your own supplies! Can I add, in the bathroom there was only one toilet roll provided, so remember (again) to take extra supplies!
Best part of the trip.....instead of a morning "gong" Tony played the bagpipes in the morning! Also, serenaded some French who were visiting...excellent!

three adults and two fifteen year olds stayed here for three nights in August. We were made very welcome by Tom and Angela, the owners. the teenagers loved Toms' patter and talked about him all the way home. Our rooms were clean and perfectly adequate and getting piped downstairs to an excellent breakfast was a first, A most enjoyable break and we will most definitely return.

A very lovely and quiet hotel. The staff here are very welcoming and friendly, especially Tom. The rooms are comfortable and light with all the amenities you could wish for.
The breakfast was cooked to order and was fantastic.
If your a late riser then Tom see's to it that your up in time for breakfast, he plays his bagpipes at the bottom of the stairs as a wake up call, wonderful.
Great location to explore the area around Callandar.
Very pleasant and enjoyable stay, highly recommended

I stayed in a single room, with shared bath, in June 2013. The room was small, but suited me nicely. The bed and bedding were quite comfortable, and both the room and bathroom were very clean. The current owners are lovely people who make you feel right at home. They've had the place for a little over two years, and the whole place was very tidy. I would disregard older reviews saying that it needed some sprucing up, as that seems to have been done already. The location is excellent, just off the main drag in the nice little town of Callander. The breakfast was good with both cooked and cold options. Highland House is very nice place from which to explore the Trossachs area.

Having ridden our motorcycles for most of the day through heavy rain and driving wind we must have looked like we had swum to Tom and Angela's door. We were welcomed in, shown to our room, and our wet gear was hung to dry in the laundry so that we could resume our journey, warm and dry. After a very comfortable night's sleep we were called to a hearty "full Scottish" breakfast by Tom playing the bagpipes! He also managed a passable rendition of "La Marseillaise" on the clarinet for the French guests. Thank you!

We had been cycling over the Dukes Pass from Aberfoyle in dreadful weather, the proposed campsite was flooded and we were sold, wet and depressed.
Turned up at the Guest house to an immediate warm welcome from Tom, who helped with the bikes, and then into lovely clean warm ensuite rooms - heaven!
Breakfast was also fantastic and both Tom and Angela took time to chat - lovely couple.
Suitably set up for the day, we recovered the time lost and made Killin later that day.

going home to scotland is always a busy time for us so we had a ouple of peaceful days up north and chose to stay in this delightful little guest house in callander. its location, just off the main street is great with local bars and restaurants right on your doorstep. Tom and Angela were great hosts, very welcoming and Tom also has a great knowledge of the local area and recommended a great restaurant for our evening meal, we weren't disappointed. the room was lovely with everything we needed, including a wall mounted flat screen tv, though we didnt have much use for that with the owner Tom entertaining us in the small bar downstairs.when we were there it was very cold but the room was lovely and warm. dont know why people complained about the cat?? yes there is one but it was never near the rooms upstairs. got a lovely breakfast in the morning and if you go be prepared for the early morning alarm call!! overall a fantastic place to stay.
