This was my favorite dinner during our 9 day tour of Scotland. The food was outstanding and the ambience was enchanting. The service was impeccable. It is a culinary experience!!!

We were a little surprised as we approached as the whole building was painted vivid pink!!
Once we found the front door we were ushered into a large well furnished room with an open fire where we were given menu's, drinks and delicious canapes. We all opted for the tasting menu and chose our wine. We were taken through to the dining room and shown to our table which was properly laid with linen napkins. The food was superb every course beautifully presented and cooked to perfection.
The waiters were a little over attentive, we had three serving us, one holding a tray containing our plates and one placing them on the table and one supervising! Unfortunately when we asked for another bottle of the wine we had chosen we were told that they had no more of that wine would we like to choose something else. I do not consider that acceptable from a restaurant of that quality.
Overall we had an excellent dinner and though expensive we felt it was value for money.

Sunday lunch. Lovely place - old hotel, squashy sofas, log fires. Great ambience. Nice hot canapes. Starters - lovely scallops (althoughI didn't think the sweet butternut squash puree was a good accompaniment), husband said his cauliflower soup was lovely. Good bread if a bit salty. Mains - fab roast beef for me, with lovely roast potatoes, yorkshire pudding and well cooked veg, pork fillet for him (half the portion size I had). Then he had apple mousse and I had unmemorable cheese (ancient Dunsyre Blue, turnip like brie, and Applewood) with dull crackers (I'm an oatcake fan). But we had to hunt a waiter to ask for a second glass of wine and more water. Despite the number of staff, I found them rather inattentive, and the place wasn't busy. Nice large pot of coffee and petit fours in the lounge. Shame that service didn't match the food.
