“Good real ale”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 6, 2013

Great to see a selection of real ale (though calling it a beer festival when 7 pumps were on was a bit optimistic!). The food was fine and the service was good. Worth going to.

Hi there and thank you for your recent review of The Lade Inn. At The Lade we are very passionate about real ale, good food and friendly service and I am glad that you got to experience all three.

When we say ale festival we mean that as we have a limited space in our bar for pumps we have our normal three Waylade, Ladeback and Ladeout which are brewed exclusively for us to our own recipe and then we have a further 4 pumps which change over every few days to provide different beers. So while you were there we had a total of 7 pumps on at one time but 4 of these would change over to different beers in the coming days. We also have a Scottish raspberry cider and tasting's in our real ale shop next to the pub, live music at the weekends and meet the brewer talks. This is why we call it a festival and we hope that you appreciate that we are limited to the amount of ales we can have on at any one time due to the size of our bar which is small in comparison to larger pubs. Thank you for your comments.

“Interesting menu and real beer”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 3, 2013

This pub has some traditional Scottish dishes and some unusual things on the menu, including items which suit a variety of special diets ranging from gluten free to vegan. I had crispy haggis balls, vegetable and bean casserole, and home-made sorbet. My husband had smoked salmon, haggis neeps and tatties, and cranachan. The pub also serves real ale, not that this is my thing but my husband enjoyed a pint.

We visited for lunch expecting it to be really busy, as a banner outside was advertising a beer festival. However, it was nearly empty, which was sad for them, and I hope that there were more people there in the evening.

Hi there and thank you for your review of The Lade Inn. I am happy to hear that you enjoyed your recent trip to us and although I am very happy that you thought that the sorbet was homemade I must say that we cannot take credit for it as we don't make it, the Cranachan however is homemade.

As far as the beer festival goes we have many different ales available compared to normal as well as live music at the weekends and meet the brewer talks. We are not busy all the time at the moment as the school holiday's are over however we still have periods where it is really busy (weekends especially). Thank you for your kind comments and we hope to see you again in the future.

“Always great!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 22, 2013 via mobile

We have returned to the Lade Inn many times now and have never been dissapointed once! The food is always brilliant, is served quickly and always in generous portions offering great value for money. The staff are very attentive and always make sure your meal is just right for you. I've also notice over time the menu changes offering slightly different selections from time to time whilst retaining old favourites which I like! They are dog friendly in the bar area which is nice also. Will be back many more times.

Thank you very much for your kind review. We work very hard to provide a good experience at The Lade and I am happy that you appreciate this and keep coming back. We do indeed change our menu twice a year and the favourite's must stay on otherwise our Customer's would complain as we are known for certain dishes. We look forward to seeing you again on your next visit.
