“Worth stopping for Lunch”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 24, 2012

Friendly helpfull staff. I use the Lade or the Forth Inn in Aberfoyle whenever taking vistors over the Trossachs road. Nice menu different seating options inside and out. It very own microbrewery next door. Its reliable and just what you can expect of the better run Scottish country pubs and Inns. Worth a stop or two.

“You have to visit”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 17, 2012

A wonderful restaurant and pub, with a great ale shop next door. One of our two favorite pubs in Scotland. A mile from the Callander high street. The food is superb, the pub is cozy, with music on the weekends. Don't miss it.

“Very disappointing, won’t be going back again”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 15, 2012

From looking at the reviews below my husband and I thought we were in for a good evening with some quality local food and real ale. However, our evening wasn’t enjoyable at all, but I will say that the real ale and the Thistle Cross Scottish Cider were lovely.
We arrived at the pub and decided to have a drink before ordering, the barman did allow us to open a tab and we said that we would order food after our first drink seems as it was only 7pm.
Only a few sips into our drinks the same barman was asking if we were ready to order yet, we said that we would in a bit as it was still quite early. The Inn serves meals until 8:45pm and we just wanted to relax and enjoy our drinks first.
We ordered our food (at around 7:45) starters and main course each. On ordering our food the bar staff then started to clear away the other menu’s from the tables around us, which we thought was strange seems as it was still rather early.
The starters didn’t take long to arrive and they were both ok (I had goats cheese and my husband had haggis). Once the barwoman came to collect our empty starter plates she had no sooner taken them to the bar then she was back again with our main courses! We didn’t even manage to take a breath between one course and the next. Needless to say neither of us managed to finish our main meals as we were rushed along. There were also raw chips on our plates, obviously chef was rushing to finish up early. This was also true of the bar staff as they then began to clear the bar and mop the floors, making us feel very unwelcome, bearing in mind that it was only turned 8pm.
We left most of our meal, paid the bill and headed out of there.

As I’ve said the drinks were lovely but that is the only nice thing to say about our experience at the Inn.
Not recommended!
I would suggest that anyone planning on eating near here, head out a bit further to The Byre Inn, Brig o'Turk. Now this place has everything a proper pub should.
