My wife and I spent 3 nights at Annfield in July and we are glad we did. Hosts Mac & Ania make you feel most welcome and relaxed, always willing to offer advice and suggestions. There is heaps to see around the area, particularly if you enjoy walking and sight seeing. Lake Katrine, afternoon tea at Lake Hotel, Port of Menteith, 2hr walk up Ben A'an (465m -not a Munro but a great view and very manageable, with good footwear) etc.
Annfield is well positioned in Callander, being right in the centre of town, but it is really quiet, as the guesthouse is off the main street, which didn't seem to get really busy in the evening anyway.
Our room was a twin room, which was at the rear of the residence, with a separate bathroom next to our room. What a luxury. We were provided with bathrobes, which was really nice, as we had to obviously leave the bathroom after showering etc.
It was quite warm to hot when we were there, and I think that the front rooms could be rather warm at times, as they faced the afternoon sun.
Breakfast was super, and everything was fresh and beautifully prepared.
We found The Waverley Hotel in Callander very ordinary for dinner, but the Lade Hotel, which is about a 20minutes walk or 5 minute drive North to be really very good, with good food very reasonably priced and in a nice setting, and worth the drive. Callander Meadows Restaurant was also very good as recommended by Mac, but a little more expensive.
Thanks Mac and Ania for a lovely stay.

Room Tip: Twin room at the rear of the residence suited us nicely.

Just returned from our 3 night stay in Callander, the Annfield was a great choice, after reading the previous reviews, the hosts Ania and Mac were truly lovely helpful people, the hole place was spotlessly clean and breakfast was truly superb, we stayed in an ensuite room number 1 , small but perfectly formed with everything you need, and the most comfortable bed, thank you for helping make our break a memorable one.

We stayed in Callander for two days just killing time until the Cowal Gathering in Dunoon. We arrived around 4:00 in the afternoon and were greeted by Mac and his wife Ania the owners. They were friendly and did not have a lot of rules compared with other B & Bs. Breakfast was anytime between 8 and 9 with no reservations or defined time. Ania was delightful and thorough with the tour of the house and amenities.

The house is a mid-Victorian with high ceilings and intricate crown molding. The décor was historically correct, yet very comfortable and pleasing. The common areas were comfortable and inviting. It was very quiet and relaxing. I was shocked to see 5 other couples at breakfast.

Our room was very bright and spacious. We had an en-suite room and everything was just great. The best part was that everything worked, including hot water, shower and internet. Towels were large and thick, and the sheets were crisp.

Breakfast was perfect with tons of fresh fruit and yogurt as well as a full Scottish breakfast. The service, provided by Ania was so warm and efficient.

The best thing about this guest house was Mac and Ania. They were so helpful and really seemed to care about our visit. They had soul and really seemed to enjoy what they were doing. They turned our visit to Callander into a destination, rather than just a stop gap. They directed us to the best restaurant in town. I left a hat behind in my room. Mac called me and posted it to me at my next stop in Dunoon. I have never had such wonderful treatment from strangers.

I would recommend this place to everyone.

Room Tip: We were in Room 2 and it was so quiet and relaxing.

All the good reviews are well deserved and Ania and Mac work so hard to make everyone's stay enjoyable. The house is quiet, though in a very convenient spot to walk out into the town in the evening. We really appreciated the superb breakfast and the way we were looked after.

My daughter and I have been touring Scotland for two weeks, always choosing the best B&Bs according to Tripadvisor's ranking and Annfield Guest House comes first in many fields. Warmest welcome with even a hug from Ania when we left after one night only, best beds with the thickest mattresses I had ever seen, best breakfast by far!... And we got all this for 10 pounds less than in most other B&Bs. What a treat!
