“Not up to expections”
Reviewed June 26, 2013

Lovely setting and told about the hostile neighbour regarding cars. The room was charmless and felt unloved. Bedding was good, tiniest hairdryer on the planet. Previous guests toiletries left in bathroom cabinet. Shower looked great on appearance but was a "run around to get wet" version. Are we being picky or are all British showers like this? Generous cobweb in bathroom so perhaps cleanliness needs attention. There was no key to lock the room door and the host declared that he did not bother to lock the outside door either: he did not see this as a problem! For breakfast there was no fruit or cereal offered, only a cooked one. This was ok but there was a big emphasis on the home produced honey. Perhaps the host should take a leaf out of other B&B's books. On a positive note, he did recommend a fabulous pub for dinner in Cott.

We stayed at Longacre as we were visiting family in the area. We were promptly greeted by the owner and shown to our room, which was good - clean, spacious and well equiped. The house is in a very rural location and only reachable by a series of narrow country lanes, but this adds to its charm. We were very pleased to have been able to book for just one night as many other places were requesting at least 2 due to the bank holiday. The breakfast was served in the upstairs of the property in a very large kitchen diner, where the owner prepared breakfast as we waited, which was a very nice touch. Not quite 5 stars as I like a bigger bed - but I'm just being pickey! Would definitely recommend and revisit.

Would highly recommend this B&B. We spent 3 nights there and it was very comfortable, wonderful breakfasts, spacious room and good en-suite bathroom. The immediate surroundings are very rural and quiet and it is an excellent base from which to explore the surrounding area with its many beautiful spots. We shall stay here again to continue our explorations of the South Hams.

I chose this Bed and Breakfast purely on the previous reviews on Tripadvisor and since returning home have reread them all basically to confirm that we have all been staying at the same place.

Our stay didn't get off to the best of starts when a female neighbour of Longacre's came rushing out to our car shouting and complaining that our car's front wheels had encroached onto her property by a couple of feet whilst we were parking up..'welcome to Devon'...the only thing missing was the 'shotgun'!!! and was all we needed after a long journey.

It appears that this is an ongoing problem which the owner of Longacre is aware of so it might be an idea to 'forwarn' future guests.

The house is in a beautiful location and is an 'upside down house' but unfortunately the downside to this is that from the room we had on the ground floor it is impossible to enjoy any of the views and we found the room quite dark.

The food at breakfast was good; locally sourced meats and honey from Alex's own hives (it was the breakfast that changed score from 2 to 3)

Sorry to say but not a place I would probably return to and still rereading all those previous reviews to make sure that we stayed at the right place.

We booked Longacre for one night as a mini-break for my boyfriend and I. Alex, the owner met us and showed us to a lovely, spacious room with a gorgeous wet room. I think the little touches are what made it special; toiletries, fresh milk in mini-fridge, feather pillows and memory foam mattress. Possibly the best night's sleep I have ever had! Breakfast was yummy, with perfect runny eggs and plenty of toast. Would not hesitate to stay there again - excellent value for money. A perfect romantic getaway.

Had a two night stay and couldn't fault the experience. Would happily book again. The owner even makes his own honey and allowed us to use his last jar. It was excellent.

Longacre offers great value, very well-appointed rooms in a lovely old barn. Friendly welcome from Alex, a great night's sleep and a hearty breakfast combined to set me up for the day ahead. This b&b looked like it would be the ideal spot for an extended visit in the summer, with its rolling lawns and small orchard ( with bee hives ). Highly recommended.
