“1970s eastern europe”

Trago Mills Family Shopping & Leisure Park

Why would anyone want to set up a mock 1970s eastern German tourist experiance....??.
Long queues.. staff whom some seem to have the customer care of a guard positioned on the Berlin wall during an escape. ...
and a huge shop I last seen during a itn news article on the state of the USSR in 1986....
You get what you pay for....!!!

An very large shopping centre sell virtually everything imaginable at competative prices. A supurb garden centre with free access to some of the best formal gardens i have ever seen. an extreamly large model railway and rides for children of all ages and a small animal park to entertain all age groups. The model railway costs £1 and is great value and the ride tickes are good value. There is a cafe and coffee house selling food and drinks at very low prices.

Overall a great place to visit for very little money with something for everone.

I don't understand the pull of this place. I have been twice and both times it was busy. It's like a big, sprawling, low-end open air shopping mall. The most interesting thing I saw was a peacock in the carpark. Lots of of parking is the most positive thing I have to say!

Wow was like going back to 1982! Went to the main shop (you have to park a long way away so dont buy anything big!) which is like a run down Walmart in the US crossed with Wilkinsons and a Garden Centre. Kind of everything under one roof but with no specific order. Some things are cheap, other things quite expensive. You could spend hours in there but not buy anything. Was very much like stepping back in time with the layout etc. Was very busy in there, big queues at the tills so its obviously popular. My kids hated it, but they are not big shopping fans.

The whole site has everything for everyone, kids rides, restaurants, petrol station, garden centre but its all laid out in a weird way that doesn't entice you - cant explain that part very well! It needs updating or laying out better, its really confusing.

The main restaurant/cafe was ok, big queue for hot food, pretty standard. Saw a peacock outside there which was nice.

I'd say go on a day when its raining, for something to do, but dont make a trip expecting it to be a fantastic shopping experience. If you want high end designer labels, forget it, if you like a good rummage for bargains it might be more your thing.

My wife and family had a very enjoyable day at Trago Mills, Newton Abbot,This is a great attraction for shopping,site-seeing and restaurants, also there is a variety of exotic birds around the complex for the children to enjoy, the shopping complex sells everything from food, electronics, furniture, D.I.Y, gardening, we tried their new open planned restaurant, whereby they have three stations of a variety of hot and cold foods, our lunch was excellent, but not expensive, the average main course/lunch is around £4.50, also car parking is FREE, easy to find, off the main Exeter to Plymouth Road, give it a try, fun day out!
