We (a family of 8 people- all adults) had a get together here last Sunday. I must admit the outside is perhaps not very inviting but it was dark and this may have had an effect .However most of the the party live locally and said the food was very good and how right they were! What impressed me was the appearance of the food. It really looked colourful , fresh and vibrant with none of that greyish tinge that can sometimes occur with chinese food.We had a broad selection of about 6 starters and 8 main dishes and all were excellent. Even with a few drinks it only came to about £15 per head and was therefore very reasonable. Will go again next time we are in the area.

Don't be put off by the dated look of the pub - the chinese restaurant at the back is smart and clean and the staff are delightful. We have never had a bad meal or takeaway yet. The crispy duck is wonderful and their set meals are excellent value.

We went to the Fortune Inn as a spur of the moment thing on 14 April. The half a crispy duck and pancakes the four of us shared as a starter was delicious and there was plenty to go around. For mains we had a real mixture of dishes from garlic beef to Thai curry but the stand out highlights were the scallops in oyster sauce and the crispy squid with sweet and sour sauce.

my husband and i went when they first opened and were very pleased, good food and prompt service, i was never sure about a chinese restaurant and a combined pub working at all but they seemed to be pulling it off, but as they had just opened of course one expects a certain 'honeymoon' period. went last week and what a difference, food was very poor quality, the shredded beef was cold and the chicken dish only barely resembled chicken, full of water and tasteless, the waitress did not look to be caring much about anything and as a result the service was slow. they were still very busy with what seems like an extened honeymoon period but i fear it wont last if others have the same experience we had, not sure will return as there are others locally to return to.

Reading the reviews on here I thought I was in for a fab meal. My husband and I decided to try the Fortune Inn on a Saturaday night. Pulling into the car park it looked busy which is a good start. When we asked for a table for two we were offered a table upstairs as downstairs was full. I didn't mind this as downstairs didn't look that great. Unfortunately upstairs was worse. It looked like an old village hall. There was a table of about 30 people up there. We were given a seat, I was facing a stage, spare tables stacked up, and a large screen tv showing the football. Our order for food and drinks was taken promptly. When we asked the waitress for chopsticks she looked confused and said that she'd have a look around for some but didn't sound hopefull. She never came back, she seemed too busy in her work area running her fingers through her hair and drinking coke. The food was very average and we had to wait an age for it to come out. At one point we nearly walked out as we were so tired of waiting so long. Our hot plate had gone cold so we requested a new one. At no point were we offered any more drinks. As soon as we finished our main course we left and went to our favourite restaurant instead for dessert. Also the mint offered to us at the till was like a Rennie! Would we go again? Certainly not
