We went to Splinters for the first time yesterday evening with two friends. What a delightful restaurant - rather like a Tardis as it's bigger inside than it looks from the outside! We sat in a booth, which was very pleasant and I would highly recommend. Canapes were brought with our drinks - scrummy! The food was sublime - I had scallops to start which melted in the mouth, followed by the lamb which was deliciously succulent. Apparently, our friends' other starters and mains were equally spectacular. I refrained from a dessert but the 'mmmmms' from my husband and friends said it all! Each course was beautifully presented as well as being superb. Coffee was accompanied by complimentary delicious petits fours. The service was very friendly and efficient, and Paul, the chef and owner, came out to ask us if we had enjoyed our meal and gave us a potted history of the restaurant. The meal was expensive but reflected in the presentation and quality of the food. We will definitely return - I have to say that this was probably the best meal I have ever had in a restaurant.
