“My drean wedding day”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 12, 2012

Wow! What can I say apart from totally amazing from start to finish. I could not have asked for anything else. Cheryl, the wedding planner was an absolute star and helped keep me calm! The food was out of this world, the service from all staff, the toastmaster Michael was absolutely amazing and of course not forgetting Niloofar who made the day. All my guests have said what a fantastic day they had and what an amazing wedding.
We cannot thank all the staff particularly Cheryl, Michael and Niloofar for making our wedding day truely the best of day of our lives

Positioned alongside the river, the Captains Club Hotel in Wick Lane,Christchurch could be the perfect setting for a romantic film. The restaurant, with its spacious terrace is utterly beautiful, peaceful and delightful. It promises everything.

From reception to the terrace, the bar and restaurant, every one of the staff was polite, friendly and charming. You knew everything was right and sensed this was going to be a perfect stopover.

And the food, …er the food. Well, my advice is don’t go to the Captain’s Club Hotel if you are feeling hungry! My Chicken Caesar’s salad had tiny morsels of chicken that were hiding around a few leaves of salad. A small pot of coleslaw and a larger pot of Caesar’s dressing.

The setting and the service was just too good to spoil the occasion by complaining. Besides, I am sure I will go back – only next time I will remember to eat something before I go.

Room Tip: In the Restaurant, sit by the window and enjoy the view.

Arrived Monday 24 September 2012 for our 10th Wedding Anniversary celebration the next day.Fantastic suite overlooking the River Stour, Champagne on ice in the room. Evening meal in Tides Restaurant was perfectly cooked and presented with service being second to none. Both owners (Robert & Tim) ensured all that could be attended too was carried out with total professionalism. Must rate as one of the best hotels in the area. A must for anyone who likes unhurried attentive service with an excellent bar and restaurant. A great reception and booking Staff need a vote of thanks too. Jo & Bob Locke

We went for a one night stay at the Captains Club Hotel, location in lovely, View from the room great but the room was a little shabby considering the price they are charging. Must say that the dinner in the restaurant was really good and a great atmosphere in the bar as well, all ages and a pianist which was a nice touch. Breakfast left a lot to be desired, staff were slow and we had to send one breakfast back as the eggs did not look right, that meant one of us was eating and the other wasn't so a bit sloppy. Nice stay, staff friendly but stayed in 5 star hotels which were not as expensive.

Room Tip: all rooms face the river but some overlook the bar so if you want a quiet one ask for one away from...

We decided to visit the captains club for Afternoon tea for my friends birthday. It is set in a really nice location on the River and my friends had recommended it. There was a lot of staff standing around but service was very slow we ended up going up to them to take our order, staff were nice though. The food was nice but I have had better and the floor was filthy. I will not be returning to the Captains club or recommending it.

We had a wonderful weekend at the captains club hotel. We had my elderly, disabled mother with us and our 2 young children and the staff couldn't have been more friendly, accommodating and helpful. It is in such a beautiful location that was ideal for the children with so much to do and a lovely park & playground right next to the hotel, feeding the ducks and swans and enjoying walks by the river. The food and service were second to none. My mother sat and had a coffee and read her book in the lounge while we took the children out. She felt very comfortable and enjoyed the friendly atmosphere and the staff went out of their way to make sure she was ok. We treated my mother to a manicure in the spa and she said she'd never had a manicure last so long!! If you are visiting Christchurch then the captains club is a must!

I have stayed at this hotel three times and always found it excellent. The view is stunning from the outdoor terrace, especially if the weather is good. The bar and restaurant has a very friendly ambience whether you are a couple, a family or part of a group and I think this is part of it's appeal and why people return time after time. Not to mention the excellent food! I cannot believe the previous review of the food as that has not been my experience at all. I have always found the management very helpful if something doesn't go according to plan and they bend over backwards to put things right and make every event a special one, .

Room Tip: Suites with kitchens are a bonus when you travel as a family
