The remains of this castle sit high on a small hillock which has steps so that you can safely navigate to the top. There are good views of the priory from here.
Close by is a riverside walk leading to the ruins of a Norman house. There are information boards which are interesting to read and the site is free to access.
We would recommend combining a visit to the castle with one to the priory and other attractions.
