Pizza Express has been around since the 1960's and yet the quality remains excellent as does the value for money - especially if you take your Taste Card with you and get 50% off or two dishes for every one bought.
Whilst the Christchurch outlet may not be as wonderful a setting as some of the other restaurant venues it still has attentive, friendly staff who try their best to give a quality but swift service and so it was on our first visit to reliable "fast food" in Christchurch.
Valentine Warner, who once waited on tables at Pizza Express, is now a consultant with some good tasty ideas - I tried one of his special pizzas which included fennel; it was delicious.
My partner's pizza was the lighter option with a hole in the middle filled with Rocket leaves - she found hers very much to her liking too.
We had started with a mozzarella salad and "dough-balls" - both worked well when we shared our dishes.
No visit to Pizza Express would be complete without one of their cheesecakes with marscapone - again you could not fault the quality, the size of the portion or the presentation.
All-in-all we enjoyed our first trip to Pizza Express at Christchurch and we hope that the new restaurant opening in our nearby Lymington will be open soon.
Some other reviewers mention about atmosphere and I suppose you do need to choose your time to visit a Pizza Express - we prefer quietness rather than hustle and bustle so a mid-week lunchtime is a good time or very early evening.
We really hope that Pizza Express can continue to offer the quality it does at the prices and discounts available for a long long time to come; we went away very happy customers indeed and it remains difficult to find fault with the consistency Pizza Express continue to offer in all of their outlets we have tried so far.
