The Fishermans Haunt is a large pub/restaurant on the edge of the New Forest. Theres plenty of room to cater for someone who just wants a drink and those who want a meal. The Fisherman's Haunt, as is obvious by the name, specialises in fish but also a good range of other local produce. (I noticed there was even local jams and eggs being sold there). The staff are very friendly, and the bar has a good range of Fullers beers. The food is generally excellent, always well cooked and generous on portions, making the prices just about right. I would highly recommend this place with my only criticism being that their needs to be more choice, or a change of dishes, for vegetarians.

We stayed here recently while visiting the Bournemouth Air Show. We had previously stayed at the White Buck in Burley which was full on this occasion but were very satisfied with our stay at the Fishermans Haunt. The staff from the first welcome to the time of checkout were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. We enjoyed lunch on the Friday (ham, egg and chips for himself which could be ordered in either a small or normal-sized portion) and delicious smoked chicken and pesto sandwiches for me. Breakfast on both Saturday and Sunday was delicious. We enjoyed dinner on two nights and can particularly recommend the crab gratin which was gorgeous. Our room was in the Coach House (luxury room at a rate of £85 when booked via Late Rooms). The bed was very comfortable and the room whilst not huge was well furnished with a good bathroom (shower only, no bath). The pub is only a short drive from Bournemouth so well worth staying there if you don't want to be in the centre of town. All in all, we would definitely recommend the Fishermans Haunt who are to be commended on the friendliness of their staff. With best regards from the Pritchards from Wales.

We had some friends round Monday night and not wishing to drive to far we decided to give the Fisherman's Haunt a try. Very friendly greeting and comfortable and was a very pleasant experience. The service was good and we enjoyed some Fullers "Seafarer" ale, not strong but tasty. We had the fish from the menu and it was very good. The sizzling prawn starter and the mushrooms were also very tasty. Our friend had the Lamb, again very tender and well presented. Its a very restful place, a touch of updating wouldn't go a miss, but the foods good. Worth a trip, we will pop back again.

I went to this place for lunch with my wife and my mother. We all immediately loved the atmosphere and ambiance. Not sure of its heritage but it gave us that traditional old pub feel. The menu is large and varied and we each selected a main course from the Specials Board. The prices aren't that cheap and the servings could be bigger but don't let that put you off as the quality was excellent.

The location isn't great for outdoor dining so if that's what you are looking for this wouldn't be for you. However, if you like a traditional old pub that offers excellent tasting food with good service from smiley staff then I highly recommend it. We will definitely be returning in the near future.

(I gave one star for 'Families with Children' as I'm not sure of their children policy.)

Grubby ,overpriced pub , does not look as if its been decorated in many years its was so tired looking it was depressing ! Why are do you need to be shown to your table .... It's a pub trying to be a restaurant ! We had the fish and chips which was very good but at £9.95 each was pricey . If you just want a snack the is a poor choice of 4 sandwiches and that's about it . Would not recommend or return !
