For my wife's birthday we decided to go to Avon Beach as we had heard that it was under new management and was now open for dinner in the evenings. We arrived in the car park which was pitch black and had difficulty using the machine to pay for our parking, not an auspicious start to the evening. The restaurant has been refurbished and was pleasantly decorated and we were made welcome by friendly staff.
The menu though not extensive, was varied and caters for most choices. From fish through vegetarian dishes to meat. For my starter I chose the Charcuterie which while not earth shattering was adequate. My main was lamb shank served on a bed of mashed potato with a delicious ju.
I would have preferred it served on a plate instead of a soup bowl as the whole dish became rather stodgy as I attempted to remove the meat from the bone. However the whole was cooked well and I enjoyed the meal.
The service was discreet and friendly and the atmosphere quiet with an under tone of conversation, most enjoyable.
There were a couple of rough edges during the evening but I am sure these will be smoothed out as the establishment gains more experience.
